North Texas man executed for $10 fatal robbery

HUNTSVILLE -- A former pizza delivery driver was executed today for the 1990 shooting death of a woman after robbing her and her husband of some inexpensive jewelry and less than $10.

Kenneth Eugene Bruce first addressed the family of his victim, Helen Ayers, and then spoke to his family.

"And to the family of Ms. Ayers, I would like to apologize for all the pain and suffering and that God give you closure," And I pray that he blesses you," he said.

Turning to his family, Bruce told them he loved them. "I may not be with you in the physical but by grace my heart will be with you all and I know God loves everyone of you all," he said.

Bruce's mother wept loudly and was allowed to sit in a wheelchair when she was unable to stand on her own.

Bruce was pronounced dead at 6:29 p.m., eight minutes after the lethal dose began.

Bruce, who was 19 at the time of Ayers' death, was one of four men convicted for the slaying after forcing their way into her home in rural Collin County.

Bruce, now 32, was the second Texas inmate put to death this year.

His lawyers sought a U.S. Supreme Court review of his case. They raised concerns about the instructions given to jurors at his trial and questioned the constitutionality of the drugs used in a lethal injection, contending the drugs as administered resulted in cruel and unusual punishment.

He was executed for a $10 robbery, not murder. Or so the headline says.

That's because they want the reader to know he was poor and depressed, and probably hungry.

Is "fatal robbery" a new crime charge? Or does it just sound better to liberal editors than "senseless brutal murder"

And if you read closer, the total was more than $10. There was also that 'inexpensive jewelry' that he took.

$10? So he was not only a murderer and a thief, but stupid as well. It is good he was removed from the gene pool.

They even omitted the jewelry in the headline. 10 bucks and for this we are executing people.

Executing people in a cruel and unusual method that may be unconstitutional. Oh and the jury wasn't properly informed. < /lawyer scams >

North Texas man executed for $10 fatal robbery (key word, fatal)

He was executed for committing a murder during the commission of a violent felony (armed robbery)

He got exactly what he deserved. It does not matter how much cash he stole, he stole a life and the lives of everyone who loved the person he murdered.

I suppose if he had gotten a hundred bucks it would have been all worth while.

Nope, I expect nothing from liberal media.

I have resorted to reading all my news online at foxnews.com anything else is so tainted and bias it is no longer news, but rather opinion.

Now, if a white officer had shot this guy as he brutally slaughtered this woman, well then he would be instantly martyred by the media and a legal team would probably sue the town and get 2.3 million dollars for the murderer’s family.

Some 14 years to off this cretin..that is the injustice of the DP...it should take place immediate, a month of conviction..this 14, 20 year BS lets all the bleeding hearts come out and lets the truth of his crime go away. I bet when he died this morning he actually felt he didnt do it either.

Got what he deserved.

I'm so sick of this biased reporting. He was executed becuase HE KILLLED SOMEONE. I'm sure her life was worth more than $10. But not to liberals, probably.

He knew he did it. And everybody else did, too. Including the liberals, although since he didn't kill them, they're "OK" with it.

I hope he made his peace with God and repented at the last. I'm sure he knew he had something to repent for. And if he did so, I am sure the Lord received him.

We have a system that keeps people from ever reconciling themselves with the truth because they continue to insist that the crime somehow "happened," and they didn't really do anything because it was all the fault of the victim, anyway.

Color me disgusted.
