Excellent posting! This is a rational and methodical analysis of the tyranny of the left in the late 20th and now early 21st centuries.

An example of the dreck from the Sixties recently was published in The London Telegraph about the talented young actor Troy Garrity who is the grandson of Henry Fonda and the son of Jane Fonda and Tom Hayden. Do you realize that his radical parents named him "Troi" after a Vietnamese communist who planned to assassinate Robert MacNamara by bombing a bridge he was crossing during the Vietnam War? Now, i could care less about the remarkable incompetent named Robert MacNamara but I would never want to see anything like that happen to him and naming your child after some enemy communist who planned to assassinate him is a bit much, even for mindless Hollywood trash like Fonda and Hayden. Interesting that Mr. Garrity has now changed his first name to "Troy" (like Donahue) and his last name is neither Fonda nor Hayden.

I was at the University of Vermont (Oregon east) 1969-73 majoring in Geology and Army ROTC .. My faternity brothers were dope headed activists and radicals. Those years were insane...

Today President Bush will visit Atlanta. The local rock radio station news bulletin, "Protesters will greet President Bush today on his visit to Atlanta." The conservative talk show bulletin, "Democrat Senator Zell Miller and other state democrats will join President Bush at a fund raiser here in Atlanta tonight."

Well this certainly resonates with my own memories of university in the 60's. Boston University, bomb threats, evacuations, and the cancellation of classes, and finals, and the very expensive education I was providing for myself being dragged into the streets and trashed. But it was interesting. I remember one late nite bs session,( I had just come in from my full time job, evening shift) and the subject was the need to recognise the struggle of the working man, and unexamined psuedo- marxist cant. I asked one of the more outspoken ones what her plans were for the summer, Turned out to be Europe on her parents dollar. Whadda ya do? I just laughed. I always figured they'd grow up. Until the Clintons came to power and then I realised how much they hadn't changed.

I wasn't scared in the 60's but I have been scared since the 90's. I didn't realise at the time that their ideology really didn't come from anything more than the profound self regard of the two year old wishing to control everything but itself.

Yes, this article definitely brings it all back. I was at CCNY (before open admissions), where a lot of this nonsense started during and after the riots at Columbia.

I remember being shoved and spat on because I was trying to get to class during a time when the leftists had declared some kind of boycott. I also remember the time they physically attacked the university president's residence on the campus. And, as the author points out, there was a general atmosphere of hostility and intimidation.

It was truly a horrible time.

That reminds me of a fantastic science fiction story I read a long time ago about a very young child who possessed almost godlike psychosomatic powers. I wish I could remember the name of it, or the author, but it was very illustrative of the "two year old wishing to control everything but itself" concept you mentioned.

He wished a lot of people into the corn field and the entire town was terrified of him. He had no concern for others, and there was nothing that could limit his murderous actions.

I'm not sure it was intended as a parable of Baby Boomers/Leftists but I took it that way.
