I’m 22, pretty new to politics, and I am completely disgusted with what I see in the world today.

Now I ask you: “What am I missing?”

I am confused that there are so many who like the direction our country is headed under it’s new leadership, and I am interested in knowing if there is something that I do not understand. Please, Enlighten me.

I’m 22, pretty new to politics, and I am completely disgusted with what I see in the world today.

I see the “land of the free” with more people behind bars per capita than any other westernized nation.

I see a “Defense” budget being used for preemptive attack.

I see a huge federal deficit being met by gigantic tax cuts for the few Americans who don’t DESPERATELY NEED THEM.

We are the richest country on the planet, and yet we have poverty sweeping the nation,

In our last election we had the Supreme Court decide a victor, and then declare that their ruling should not be considered president with one judge casting his vote for the SON OF THE MAN WHO APPOINTED HIM.

I see our foreign policy being conducted by a branch of government with un-elected officials.

I see people who call themselves Christians completely disregarding the words “DO NOT KILL.”

I see all these things, and I see the Republicans consumed and distracted by a feverish lust for victory. I see Social Darwinists with hypocritical morality disregarding the pain they cause in pursuit of their only real concern: POWER

Might does not make right. The republicans seem to be the most organized. They seem to be the most efficient. They seem to be the more powerful.

The Democrats seem to be the only ones who share my concerns. They are weak and disorganized, but those are the disadvantages of afflicting yourself with trying to do what is best for all mankind.

By my evaluation everything of importance has gotten worse since Bush was elected/appointed.

-Economy- My dad has been out of work for almost two years now. He’s smart too He’s got Masters in Physics from M.I.T. and a B.A. in electronic engineering from Stanford.

-Security- I think we were more secure when only small countries hated us. Looking at the history I think they had every right to hate us, but that’s a different story. Bush has made enemies with most of Europe and China. Those are some scary rivals.

-Society- I feel that there is so much more hatred and social unrest now. People who didn’t support Bush are being labeled as un-American. The patriot act is a complete slap in the face to our civil liberties. The department of homeland security is yet another agency not invented by the writers of the constitution without the proper checks and balances in place. Our prisons are full. Our workers are Idle.

You all seem so be a bunch of arrogant old men nostalgic for a time where you were worth anything to a peaceful world. I hope you all give yourselves heart attacks before your brand of fearful hate slinging brings any more problems upon the world.

First, of all; you need to get your facts correct. This is easily done by reading the facts for yourself; not having some biased person telling you. For example:

This is a flat out lie. The Supreme Court overturned the Florida SC, because of the equal protection clause was disregarded. The FSC allowed non-standardized and arbitrary counting methods to be used in a variety of select counties to gather Gore votes. This is simply unfair. Since then, there have been at least 4 re-counts; and NOT IN A SINGLE CASE has Gore won.

I think by this you mean that the Supreme Court justices set aside the people's ruling? That, of course, is not the case, if you know anything about the U.S. Constitution. Have you heard of the constitution? It specifies that electors of the states shall meet after the popular election and cast their votes to represent the decision of the electorate in their respective states.

Democrats attempted to manipulate the way that votes were to be counted, in contradiction to the laws of Florida. This was done by order of partisan Democrat Florida supreme court judges, who attempted to illegally deprive George Bush of the equal protections guaranteed him by the United States Constitution. You see, when partisan Florida judges modified that state's laws to benefit a member of their political party, they - and the Democrat Party - tried to do something unconstitutional. The Federal Supreme Court merely prevented the illegal effort. The popular vote in Florida has been recounted at least twenty times, even by the enemies of George Bush (specifically, the New York Times), and in all cases, the outcome did not change: George Bush won Florida.

You can rant all day that the popular vote of the entire nation went for Gore, but the electoral vote tally went to George Bush. The electoral college system was designed, I think, to reduce the overpowering of smaller states by larger ones, since a great number of small states may have an electoral total greater than that of two or three large states. Whatever the reason, the electoral college system is the law of the land. If that disgusts you, then work to change it. Don't repeat the false notion that George Bush is not really president.

You honestly need to study this issue. The Florida Supreme Court was changing election laws on the fly in order to benefit Gore. The Florida Supreme Court was overwhelmingly liberal. The US Supreme Court said "Hey, laws were in place in Florida. Use the laws that were in place. Don't change them because you don't like it that your guy lost."
