I went to school with a girl whose father took part in the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising. Her father managaged to escape to Singhapore, met and married, then came to the U.S. and became an American citizen. If he hadn't been armed he would have died. Many of his comrades died, but at least they didn't die like cattle to the slaughter.

Are they insane in the ADL? What are they thinking? "Yes" and "not much," respectively. More accurately, they are left-wing blissninnies, who have been willingly brainwashed into believing that the government is only a force for good and that "it could never happen here." As anyone with any sense knows, government is all about power, and that power corrupts people. The worst crimes in human history have been committed by governments, and our own is not without its own sordid past (Indian massacres and the imprisonment of 100,000 Japanese-Americans leap one's attention, but there are many other incidents that attest to the lack of good will on the part of those who control have had power right here on our own soil). The ADL and those of like mind have forgotten the lessons of history, probably because they lack the character to handle those lessons.

Your friend's father did that most moral of things - he survived. It not only saved his own life, but it saved the life of your friend, and siblings of hers, and all of their descendants for the rest of time. But don't tell that to the ADL dolts - it simply would not compute, as the quick murder of 6 million who did not resist hasn't computed for the past 2 generations.

Brainwashed leftist blissninnies is right. They think "it can't happen here," but when I see the rising generation of atheist nihilist face pierced and tattooed savages, I wonder how it can NOT happen here. This generation, raised on first person shooter video games, will load us onto trucks at (GI) machinegun point and feel exactly nothing.

The only possible justification for "the Gummint is always good" is pure ignorance.
Sad.
Even worse is the possibility that some of these folks actually bear malice toward those who own weapons of self-defense for some unfathomable reason...

Are they insane in the ADL? What are they thinking? It's a darn good thing that their creator endowed them with these certain unalienable rights, because some of these folks are so stupid they almost deserve to be enslaved.

(SNIP)
To summarize: from the point of view of any aggressor, it is desirable if not essential that intended victims not possess weapons, especially firearms. This principle holds true whether the subject is a gangster premeditating a crime or a government planning a genocide."
Or just a government wishing to avoid an armed attack preventing it from enforcing controls the public does not wish to succumb to.
(SNIP)
As we discuss below, the common law as well as the statutes of every state permit the private use of deadly force when necessary for self-protection. However, it appears to be the considered view of many reputable people that this forbearance is obsolete if not depraved. Furthermore, many gun owners seem to support keeping firearms less as a crime-fighting tool than as a political statement about individual sovereignty and the value of self-rule. It is therefore necessary to elucidate the legal and moral status both of fearful householders and proto-insurrectionists who assert the right to possess firearms.
The primary purpose of every gun owner I know in owning a firearm is to provide security for themselves and their family until the local LEO's can arrive to contend with the attacker/s.
(SNIP)
For example, Betty Friedan has called the trend of women buying guns "a horrifying, obscene perversion of feminism."[12] She believes "that lethal violence even in self-defense only engenders more lethal violence and that gun control should override any personal need for safety." [13]
Sorry, Friedan, but individual security comes first because court decisions have determined that inadeqate protection by local LEO's is not considered dereliction of duty.
A man attacking my wife with the intention of rape or other equally horrify criminal act will never get his chance to meet with a jury. That pre-determination is made by the criminal not my wife.

Today, because of total lack of self responsibility, the statement is, "We should have....."

Today, among certain elements in our society, because of total lack of self responsibility, the statement is, "We should have....."
Just thought I'd do some creative editing of my own.
