THE anti-fur folk at PETA may have a new target: Sen. Hillary Clinton.

On Dec. 24, the Times' Boldfaced Names column reported that Manhattan furrier Peter Duffy "told us he had just finished a mink coat for Hillary Rodham Clinton."

Senator Hillary Clinton may be in a hairy situation with animal rights groups.

Today's New York Post reports that a furrier claimed to have finished a mink coat for Clinton in December. The animal rights group PETA called Clinton's people who said that was totally false.

But the Post followed the mink-trail a little further and got the official word from Clinton's camp. The paper reported that the senator has actually owned a mink coat for 25 years.

But it was a little worn out, so she traded it in FOR A NEW ONE.

Can I really wear my tiara at Home Depot? Now if I can just find it, have been waiting for the proper occasion.

Typical? You bet. But inquiring minds still want to know...who bought the coat?

Oh to hell with the fur coat, what I want to see is that horrific picture of Hellary wearing that monster-sized triple (XXXL) Leather Coat being escorted down the steps by George and Laura as she and Billy Jeff leave the White House for the last time as Co-Presidents. You remember! The one where it looks like she weighs 600 LBS and the Jacket flashed open and it was filled with Silverware? That is a devastatingly brutal picture! I wonder how much she actually physically carried on her, walking out of the White House.I'm sure only the lord really knows.

Let me repeat: Hillary Clinton will run to the right of the Republican candidate in 2008, if that's what it takes to win the election.

Her fawning supporters will vote for her no matter what. She will be able to point to her fur coat and her "support" for the war in Iraq to demonstrate that she's not one of those left-wing whackos.

Sorry, Sean, but my heart is troubled.

Fear not, I won't :) But someone should ask her supporters why, if she'd lie about something as ticky-tack as this, they shouldn't wonder if she'd lie about other things of far more importance.

I'm sure the only minks used in the making of herself's coat were free-range minks. And she probably had the smaller ones tagged and thrown back. That's just the kind of girl she is.

This is about the first time I've ***ever*** admired Hillary for something--she overcame her reflexive lying and admitted she has a fur.

She certainly did not admit it.

Furthermore, she did not buy it. It says right there that someone else bought it. Further, it says an assistant purchased it. You can bet the Clintons did not pay the cash, so who is buying a sitting Senator mink coats on the hush hush?

And since I'm posting on this thread I'll just ask here what evidence there is that Chelsea is such an animal lover as asserted by the staffer? They just say something and think that makes it so. As far as I know there is zilch zero nada to indicate Ms. Clinton has any particular fondness for animals except supposedly being a vegetarian...which does not translate into animal lover.

Bill Clinton might have or Howard Dean so as she will leave him alone for his presidential bid!

Of course accepting a free mink is against senate rules.

And here is Chelsea loving her animal.

I missed that.

And you're right about one thing--if the Clintons are asked to pay for something themselves, they're sure to run out on the check.

This is what made me think she'd come "clean" (haha):

After chasing the story all day, PAGE SIX got the official word from Clinton's camp: "The senator has owned a mink coat for 25 years, and because it was worn, she traded it in." So she's neither been to the store nor received a bill, but she did trade in her old mink for a new one. Why all the back and forth and changing stories? Only her furrier knows for sure.
