Is it just me or did the Paleos only come into prominence after Bush was elected?

I never knew what a Paleocon was during the Clinton years - and Clinton's policies on Illegal Immigration were even worse than Bush.

I'm not excusing Bush for proposing amnesty, I'm just wondering why it seems the Paleos only came into existence during Bush's Presidency.

The paleos have been there all along.

I noticed them just after the election when they were all hyped up and overreacting to the great, Bush led, "Illuminati" plot to take over the country and turn our sovereignty over to the dark, EEEVILL and sinister "New World Order", and their "Proof" was some old fraternity initiation records from the "Scull and Bones" secret society.

Let me tell ya! It was a real hoot to listen to. And now they're at it again!

I never knew they existed until GWB became President and then all of a sudden, all these people calling themselves "Paleocons" came running out of the woodwork...

I agree with you that Clinton's Immigration Policy was worse than the one Bush proposed, but there was nary a sound heard when Clinton proposed his policies from the same group of folks who want nothing more than to rake Bush over the coals before voting for some third unknown candidate.

I will add, this is only a PROPOSAL yet to be taken up by Congress, which will probably not be taken up by Congress until after November. We all know that. Some posters believe it's set in stone. I don't like the Patriot Act for various reasons, and I believe the Immigration Policy will be closely scrutinized from all sides, or at least, one would hope.

HA! Thank you so much for confirming this. :) So far, all I've learned is this nonsense of an Executive Order can be traced back to an unnamed Senate Aide! Given the gravity of the rumor, I can see why they remained unnamed. I certainly wouldn't want to have to defend unfounded charges either. LOL
