CHICAGO, Illinois (AP) -- A federal judge Monday dismissed a lawsuit brought by descendants of slaves against corporations they say profited from slavery, saying the plaintiffs had established no clear link to the companies they targeted.

The court still left the door open for further litigation.

I suppose we are going to entertain the Baathists suing GW for destroying their livelihood.

Not a very funny one...
This is just the first in a series of assults by the tort kings on America's pocket book using the "slavery reperations" line as the foundation of the suit.
...and if you think that the money will be "placed in trust fund to help the black community...".
Well I guess that the Right Reverends Jackson and Sharpton are part of the "black" community. That will be one big pie they will not be able to keep their fingers out of.

I don't see how someone today can sue for money for something that is now illegal, but was legal for the time that they are sueing for.

dismissal without prejudice is SOP. There is nothing odd or special about that.

The do have to come up with a way to overcome the dismissal grounds.

What IS unusual is 75 PAGES! Usually such dismissals are 1 to 2 pages. Plaintiffs are expected to refile.

It may continue to be without prejudice for a number of variations. Then they will have to file an appeal to overcome the dismissal. (or not)

This is just an effort to extort money, not decide issues. I hope these corporations stand strong.

You want another war in the streets? Tell white Americans that they're going to pay their hard-earned wages to Black Americans for something that they're not even responsible for. Nor their fathers. Nor their fathers before them.

Reparations are a joke. This guy won't quit, Mr. Jean-Baptiste. His suit named the Pope, Queen Elizabeth II, George W. Bush among others as defendants. He'll keep filing and filing. Everyone needs a hobby.
