Wouldn't be so bad if they spoke English too. I'm reminded of a time in McDonald's when I had occasion to ask for salt. After several attempts, I switched to sal (Spanish for salt to you northern gringos), whereupon there was immediate comprehension. Salt apparently was not close enough.

Have an Asian-American friend who was upset when she asked for "pepper" at a fast food joint in Tustin and was stared down by the monoglot server after the latter rejoined "PIMIENTA?" Count her as someone who's also upset about out-of-control illegal immigration in California. (Go ahead, Bush lickspittles: Call her a "racist.")

We know the truth when we hear it, and about the only place we are hearing it these days is from Tom Tancredo.

You just spoke the truth too.

This issue is much more than whether one likes Bush or not. I like Bush, but I am very disappointed in his non-solution to this problem. But I do think it could well be that he is sincere when he say says, and I paraphrase, that he is advocating the "guest worker program" because he believes it is the right thing to do. He didn't take a poll before acting in the War of Terror, so perhaps this is the same. But, however sincere he may be, with a plan that will exaserbate the problem instead of fix it, he is dead wrong.

We are a unique country with one culture, but are multi ethnic

Quite true. And without our culture we are nothing.

The invaders have no interest in becoming Americans save economic, unlike my father and mother who embraced the American nation and all it stood for when they entered it legally.

I've heard of "liberals" who were really conservative but didn't know it; now I know there are "conservatives" who are liberals and don't know it.

Wrong, we have not been a country of immigrants since about 1778.

Right, and as Terry Anderson says, even if we were a nation of immigrants, so what? Does that mean we have to be a "nation of immigrants" forever? We used to have slavery, too, but we saw it was wrong and we don't have slaves anymore! If something's not working for the country anymore, we should end it. I'm so sick of hearing "we're a nation of immigrants," I could retch.

I think I saw it posted yesterday that the percentage of immigrants in the US will double in the next oh, twenty years, including illegal aliens. Guess who's going to be outnumbered. Guess which language will go the way of the dodo.

Yep, that's a vast undercount. You can safely multiply that 390,000 per year by five and still come in low.

In FY 2002 the Border Patrol and INS apprehended 1,062,279 illegal aliens nationwide -- 994,720 were Mexican; another 40,336 were other Central and South American. That left only 27,223 from all other countries.

I haven't seen the final figures for FY 2003 yet, probably still stuck in the political spin cycle, but I do know that apprehensions along the Mexican border alone were standing just over 932,000 when last seen.

That's just the apprehensions. The number of gotaways is much, much higher.

"He claims that in his practice he sees more people that are jailed and deported for not having proper papers than ever before, accusing Bush of harrassing minorities."

Ma'am, the sad truth is the numbers are up because of the sheer rise in proportion. They're coming in so fast that doubling the amount of deportations currently enforced would still amount to tossing sand back into the ocean. If you would like to make a difference go to the election Primary, ask for a write-in ballot and enter Rep. Tancredo. If enough people do this we can vote for an improved Bush in November (provided this can lift Sauron's spell...er, Vincente Fox's influence).
You all know who Wormtongue is.
