That quote's wrong. I've been conservative since I was 10. I've got a heart. It just happens to resemble a small, hard, cold black lump of coal. ;)

but I didn't realize that the most popular people win, not the most competent.

Guess they didn't teach history at his school...

I've seen 15 year olds that don't know a thing, and others that know more that 1/2 of the 60 year olds out there.

I looked at the site. I'll admit that I'm impressed if nothing else, with the organization and depth. I expected the same old talking points. I don't agree with 99% of his political views, but I'll give credit to where it is due, especially for his age. He has a couple of smart posters there I'm familiar with for other sites.

That said, being good at political analysis and predicitions is one thing, leading the team to victory is another. If he comes out to Michigan as a campaign manager and we cross paths, we'll see how smart and effective the whiz kid is when it's big leagues time.

There's no better education than a complete and utter ass kicking. I've been on both sides of em.

I have to disagree.

Up until I was about 21 or 22 I was a hard core communist liberal. As I got older, on my own & more educated I converted to a Conservative. In 1976 I cast my very first vote for Jimmy Carter, and that is all the proof you need that 19 year olds have no business voting.

If the kid has any brains at all he will grow out of it.

If you are a Conservative at 18 you have no heart,
If you are a liberal at 35 you have no brain.

I, too, was a Carterite teen (thanks in no small part to Tricky Dick Nixon). So, I know there's hope for misguided teens.

But, there's a big difference between you and I and the kid in the story. He isn't just another skull-full-of-mush whose activism amounts to a bumper sticker or manning a phone bank for a night or two. From the sound of it, he's deeply entrenched, and being treated like some kind of bigshot phenom by the party machine. He's getting a lot of attention for his efforts, and he's probably loving every minute of it. If he plays his cards right, he'll never have to work for a living. I predict he'll ride the train into a liberal university, major in Political Science and, at worst, live out his jaded life in the halls of academia.

Worse?  I thought the flash thingie was damned good.  Those on this board who are eaten up with Bot-ulism would do well to watch. But they won't.  I'd say a  third of the flash is spin, but the rest of it needs exposure.

"When Stephen ran for student council, he told me he had divided the school into interest groups, the jocks, the popular kids, etc., and tried to figure out where his support was and how to appeal to them,"

Like a true Democrat he is learning to divide people, pit them against each other and pander to all the interest groups.
