Messy: A 45-ton whale exploded in the middle of a Taiwanese city, showering the area in blood and innards.
January 29, 2004
A DEAD sperm whale being transported through Tainan City, Taiwan suddenly exploded yesterday, splattering cars and shops with blood and guts.
The 17m, 45-tonne carcass was being taken on a flat-bed trailer-truck for an autopsy.
"Because of the natural decomposing process, a lot of gases accumulated, and when the pressure build-up was too great, the whale's belly just exploded," marine biologist Professor Wang Chien-ping said.

Okay, a while on a flatbed truck would be a head turner, but then the darn thing explodes? Now that is cool.

I seen this on the news yesterday, people were holding their nose, I am sorry, but I had to laugh, it was so funny.

My question is, why were they taking it for an autopsy? Was murder suspected? Did the clintons have a hand in it? Could be Arkancide.

Is using the search function on FR painful, too difficult to comprehend, or what am I missing?

Not always, but consider how some people post. I post often at work between projects/problems. You do a quick search, don't see it matching your headline, post, run off to do more. I have posted about 8700 articles since I started, I even once posted an editorial I had already posted - now that is bad :)

You must have the same photographic memory that I have, unfortunately nothing ever develops..... But, I see the same article over and over and over and over and it makes me crazy and then I want to go to Arkansas, and Idaho, and New York, and Washington, and Oregon, and Arizona, and California and.........

Because Fat Teddy releases that pressure by expelling nauseous hot gasses everytime he sees an open microphone or television camera, that's why.

I would agree, I have many times used one key word and clicked by time, works well most of the time. I usually bump the article if I find it. When I was working nights I posted a lot of things which got little or no comment as many people weren't online at the time, someone else posted later in day same thing and many more saw it.
Another way to search is to use google and append freerepublic (which is how I do a search to find some of my postings from time gone by). What one has to weigh I think is the time it takes to post versus doing a real good search. I can post an article in less than 60 seconds. Wading through searches and checking can easily double that time and more (and when I am on a roll while at work time can be of the essence to me).
Perhaps a future development that could be done would be to have search built in to posting using several variables and showing you other articles which are related during preview phase. At any rate the search feature could be better but if one really wants to using the current one they could find if something has been posted (and as an aside, is there a way other than google you can search your own posts?)
I will go make coffee and perhaps I will be thinking more clearly :)

Look at these pictures of a whale transported openly on a flatbed and try to imagine seeing a similar scene in your city. Can you? Ah, the stuff we miss by not living overseas.

Never use the search feature when you can just post again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again
