CBS Apologizes for Jackson's Exposure (MTV will not produce another Halftime show)

NEW YORK - CBS apologized for an unexpectedly R-rated end to its Super Bowl halftime show, when singer Justin Timberlake (news) tore off part of Janet Jackson (news)'s top, exposing her breast.

The two singers were performing a flirtatious duet to end the halftime show, and at the song's finish, Timberlake reached across Jackson's leather gladiator outfit and pulled off the covering to her right breast.

The network quickly cut away from the shot, and did not mention the incident on the air.

Timberlake said he did not intend to expose Jackson's breast.

"I am sorry that anyone was offended by the wardrobe malfunction during the halftime performance of the Super Bowl," Timberlake said in a statement. "It was not intentional and is regrettable."

Wade said CBS officials attended rehearsals of the halftime show all week, "and there was no indication any such thing would happen. The moment did not conform to CBS' broadcast standards and we would like to apologize to anyone who was offended."

The Super Bowl halftime show, which also featured P. Diddy, Nelly and Kid Rock, was produced by MTV, CBS' corporate cousin in Viacom.

"We were extremely disappointed by elements of the MTV-produced halftime show," Joe Browne, NFL executive vice president, said. "They were totally inconsistent with assurances our office was given about the content of the show.

"It's unlikely that MTV will produce another Super Bowl halftime."

MTV issued a contrite statement, saying the incident was "unrehearsed, unplanned, completely unintentional."

Wardrobe malfunction. Right.

Who are you going to believe? Justin Timberlake or your lying eyes?

What a disgusting display that entire half-time show was. Typical for the 'Anti-Everything Normal and Decent' MTV.

I think the NFL forgot who their main demographic is...it certainly isn't the MTV crowd.

well if MTV isn't gonna produce any more half time shows, then next year we might actually see something with a little class?

I don't know why everyone is so upset about this. She was just trying to get that awful multi-legged spider off her breast.

PIMP-TV made $6,000,000 a minute in advertising.

It should all be seized by the FCC.

Timberlake said he did not intend to expose Jackson's breast.

Go on a date, pull down the girl's dress, and try this explaination. See if it works.

"It's unlikely that MTV will produce another Super Bowl halftime."

Notice the Clintonspeak: "We won't promise that MTV will never produce another Super Bowl halftime."

What a disgusting display that entire half-time show was.

Absolutely. A full-blown assault on common decency, and the Janet Jackson moment was tame, compared to the prior 25 minutes.

Wardrobe malfunction. Right.

As another Freeper wrote...if this was unplanned why didn't Janet Jackson IMMEDIATELY cover herself??

Amen. Let's just be thankful that the spider on her breast distracted her attention from the spider that crawled up under her skirt, or we'd really have something to talk about today. :D

"I am sorry that anyone was offended

What Justin means: "I'm not sorry I was involved in it, I'm not sorry I did it, I'm not sorry 'it went wrong', I'm sorry you're such an un-sophisticate as to be insulted by my elevated behavior."

"... by the wardrobe malfunction"

Tiles falling off the space shuttle is a malfunction. Exposing Janet Jackson is a calculated stunt.

"It was not intentional and is regrettable."

If it was unintentional, it would not be regrettable, would it?

Let's examine this:

She was wearing a tearaway 'breast covering'. Timberlake knew this... how?

They had simulated sex during their 'show'. Timberlake tore off the covering and labels it regrettable. What was supposed to happen when he tore it off?

What did he expect to reveal?

Yes, for sure. They have hired Larry Flint to do next years show.

Sure it was a mistake.....NOT!.....that's why she prepared her breast with a star burst 'just in case'. Why would she have that hard metal object under her dress? Surely a woman won't wear that unless she wants everyone to see it. Why wear it hidden then? Just wait, now we'll see a bunch of teens going to Abercrombe (or where ever) wanting to buy the bursting star. Women have taken their clothes as low as they can , showing as much belly as they can, now they'll start showing a breast with jewlery on the nipple(s).

I saw the very first few minutes, until the male "performers" began their crotch-grabbing multiple times in the first "song".....that was when I knew where it was heading. Knowing this (the Super Bowl broadcast) is one of the very few luxuries troops get to enjoy during their foreign assignments in wartime, you would think the show could be more patriotic and generally appealing. This is demonstrative of the low that society has hit in this country due to the Liberal "irresponsible" tone they've set.

The damage having already been done, appologies don't cut it.

Not to mention that it was on at 8pm, when many children are still awake, and probably watching the game with their parents.

They air this crap at an early time on purpose...it's all about social engineering. The same way that Bravo has re-runs of "Queer Eye" and "Boy Meets Boy" at 7pm.

It's sick, it's disgusting, and it's tragic.
