CBS TO IMPLEMENT ENHANCED DELAY OF GRAMMY AWARDS
Additional Measure Will Allow for Video Editing
CBS announced today plans to enhance their ability to edit out any inappropriate and unexpected events from the Sunday, Feb. 8 broadcast of the "46th Annual Grammy Awards" on CBS.
The enhancement will include the ability to delete both inappropriate audio and video footage from the broadcast. Using a five second delay, CBS has traditionally employed procedures that allow only for the elimination of inappropriate audio. This new enhancement will accomplish both. The precise length of the new delay has yet to be determined.
The new procedure, which is being coordinated with the Recording Academy, is being put in place to safeguard against any unexpected and inappropriate content being broadcast during the awards ceremony.
The "46th Annual Grammy Awards" will be presented on CBS Sunday, Feb. 8 (8:00 PM- 11:30 PM, ET/ PT). CBS has broadcasted the Grammy Awards since 1973. The awards are given out annually by the Academy, which is dedicated to improving the quality of life and cultural condition for music and its makers. This year's award ceremony will be produced in association with Cossette Productions. Pierre Cossette is the executive producer, Ken Ehrlich is the writer/producer and Walter Miller is the producer/director. John Cossette is the supervising producer and Tisha Fein is the coordinating producer. RATING: TVPG

"Because of the blown switchboard, many fans could not get through to NBC to complain. Instead, they began calling the New York City Police Department and the New York Telephone Company."
Next time I see prime-time nudity, I'm calling the cops.

My question is, did she buy one or two?

The point is that many so called conservatives are too quick to call for government involvement when something offends them.

I haven't watched the Grammy, Emmy's, Tony's, the People's Choice Awards, MTV awards, BET awards or any award remotely connected to the entertainment industry since the days of rabbit ears with tin foil on my Philco. CBS should consider placing a moratorium on all of this tripe. A test pattern is more entertaining than watching a bunch of self-important self aggrandizing dolts.

"Unfortunately, we cannot count on those who appear on our air to live up to our standards," said Martin Franks, CBS executive vice president. Ah, the bottom-line problem in a nutshell: CBS assumes that the airwaves are theirs--note Franks' use of OUR air. Perhaps the FCC should remind them that the airwaves belong to the public.

I have to admit I'm wondering where the Houston police are in all this. No local obscenity laws broken, only "federal?" Hey, note that the male streaker @ the SuperBowl was only charged with trespassing and public intoxication...not indecent exposure. The Houston police realized by the end of halftime that for some reason if they were going to charge "Harry Butt" with indecent exposure, then Ms. Nip Ring would likewise be so charged.

I have to admit I'm wondering where the Houston police are in all this. No local obscenity laws broken, only "federal?" Let's see: One M. Jackson may have exposed himself before an audience of one or two minors (or more). He's been arrested. One J. Jackson exposes herself before millions of minors and there's no hint of a police investigation.
It must be some kind of sibling rivalry one upsmanship goin' on: To see who can corrupt the most children in the shortest period of time!

You may not be aware that the FCC is charged with ensuring a certain minimum level of public decency standards on public airwaves.
Got cable? Different standards apply.
I can assure you I do not have access to MTV on free TV.
If you want smut, it is available, you just have to pay extra for it.
Why should I pay extra to NOT have smut on public airwaves?

Very well aware. However, as a conservative, I don't want the government dictating what is and isn't decent.
Why is Janet Jackson's nipple indent while the nightly news, which often parrots the Democratic line decent? In my mind the mis/disinformation campaign by the fourth estate is much more dangerous than the exposure of a female nipple. The lies which are portrayed as facts on the nightly news are more dangerous than an idiot has been artist using the F- word. However, I would never call for the government to step in and censor the news.
So what is indecent?

I guarantee you that when Justin and or Janet comes on stage, they will receive a standing ovation. Watch and see.Sadly, I think you're right.
