February 5, 2004 -- Janet Jackson's bare-boob bust-out has gotten her booted from the Grammys. A source close to the record-industry awards show told The Post the producers - under pressure from CBS, which is airing the Grammys Sunday at 8 p.m. - told Jackson's representatives her presence would overwhelm the telecast.

Also yesterday, the NFL made its first move in the wake of the Super Bowl boob controversy, axing a halftime performance by JC Chasez, a member of Timberlake's former band *NSYNC

??????That makes no sense. Guilt by former association????

Certainly you don't want to reward her with "exposure" on the Grammys.

The wording is perfect.;)

She's the scapegoat. And her next album sales will skyrocket.

It was all planned.

Why not?

The Superbowl got a 70% share of the market. The Grammys will get...what...3%??? Ms. Jackson has has quite enough exposure already.

I couldn't care less what the Grammys do. I'm not going to watch that entertainment industry-promoted, self-congratulatory twaddle regardless of whether My-first-name-ain't-baby-it's-Janet...-Ms-Jackson-if-you're-nasty is on it or not.

"When what happened happened, I was shocked and appalled," said Timberlake. "I was completely embarrassed."

I'm POSITIVE I read otherwise in the earliest articles. He thought it was funny, then. Did I misunderstand?

Just like the Dixie Chicks had their publicity stunt planned?

I don't need publicity like this," he added. "I wouldn't want to be involved in a stunt, especially something of this magnitude."

Oh, yeah; riiiiiight.

No, you didn't misunderstand,

Timberlake - who blamed the snafu on a "wardrobe malfunction" after the show - hardly seemed sorry last night. "Hey, man, we love giving you all something to talk about," he laughingly told "Access Hollywood."

There's another thread on this. Here's the gist of it:

Mr. Chasez was to sing "Blowin' Me Up (With Her Love)," a song that appeared in the soundtrack of the 20th Century Fox movie "Drumline" in 2002. "We thought it was over the top," said NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy. "It was because of the song, and how we believed it was going to be choreographed. We wanted to go in a different direction."

No, you were absolutely right. He told Pat O'Brien right afterwards that it was "quick, slick and to the point" and said that they did it to give people something to talk about. Geez, I wish the media could have a memory of more than an hour, as that initial reaction proves he's a liar.

Now that Janet and Justin have gotten everyone's attention, maybe it is time for the conversation about lyrics to commence. So far in America we have had those who watch MTV and buy the performers' products, and those (like me) who lead an MTV-free life, and ignore the harm that it is doing to our children.

Apparently, last Sunday all those parents who are upset at the bare skin, were calmly sitting with their children watching a soft-porn exhibition, and listening to really explicit lyrics. The deadening effect of the downward spiral has been accepted until last Sunday.

Let us hope that Janet's action is the beginning of the reversal of the acceptance of this kind of "entertainment" for anybody's children.

For folks who think you can't fight city hall, click here for a WP article linked on Drudge that discusses, among other things, how pressure from affiliates forced the excision of the bare breast footage from an upcoming E.R. episode. Apparently the affiliates gave the network a hotfoot.

Does anyone know who owns Virgin Records? Would it be Viacom, perchance?

I agree. Maybe now these halftime shows will begin to look at the shows content before they air them. I think parents ought to look at whats on MTV, too. Its apalling! Call me an extreme right wing nut, I don't care but I think this country could do with a good old fashioned dose of morality! I applaud the Grammys. These people should get the message that "anything goes" can be carried too far.

Great...now we can be assured that someone else at the grammy's will try a stunt to grab the headlines. I'm betting Janet wouldn't have been a repeat idiot.

No you're not wrong. My wife watched ET on the following Monday and they stated that after the halftime show, Justin acted like nothing was wrong.

Now, reports are coming out like this one.

This is major backpedaling..

No,

The more scorn that is heaped on him, the more his story changes. Pretty soon, some invisible force will have made him reach up there and jerk on top off. And that will not be his fault at all.
