SANAA, Yemen, Jan. 24 (UPI) -- A purported statement by al-Qaida in Yemen warned Saturday of a "major strike" soon in the United States.

The statement, distributed by the Yemeni Tagamoo Party for Reforms, said: "A major strike, a big event will take place in America soon," reminiscent of the Sept. 11 attacks.

I just saw this on Nyquist's final phase forum- in regard to US "exercises" simulating a nuclear attack scenario.

The poster wrote, on 2/22:

"Simulation" is a cover
NORAD is at it's highest level of alert with all leave canceled
with everyone "on pager" Result of intel concerning Russian
movements after recent war game, and chatter coming out of the middle and far east.

I do not understand why we are apparently making deals with a terrorist-supporting Islamic dictatorship.

That's the part that concerned me. Negotiating with the harborers of terrorists!

That would be devastating. I really don't like the idea of having those cargo and cruise ships backed up in our major shipping waterway, especially in light of the recent alert for the ports. I haven't backtracked on this thread for the last 36 hours -- was there discussion as to how this happened? I know they're saying it was the fog.

I think that Sean was right about why we would "find" him in Afghanistan/Pakistan. If it came out that Iran was housing him, we could very well be looking at a global conflagration.

Good point about the source, but there are still a lot of other clues about this, even if you have to discount this story.

Here it is Feb 22 and 135 newpapers and other sources are now reporting about in imminent US SOF snatch and grab mission...AND THERE ISN'T A PEEP OF PROTEST FROM WASHINGTON ABOUT THE COMPROMISE OF A SUPPOSEDLY CLANDESTINE US SOF OPERATION????

There is no official protest or denial because the OBL snatch and grab operation occured a month ago.

I have to agree with that logic. Why would we leak information about the operation to capture the most important single person since Hitler?

Why are they so careful to not mention the fact that there was another accident in the same spot (or close) on last Thursday?

Two Accidents in 3 days.

We would be spreading it a bit thin for that right now. But what about later on? Do we come out later and say he really was found there. Or do the Iranians just get away with this. I'm sure we'll find another reason (nuclear) before to long!

"If it came out that Iran was housing him, we could very well be looking at a global conflagration."

B.S. We'd do the same thing we did in afghanstan. We've been itchn to fix that place since '79.

Let's assume the OBL/Iran and 30 nuke thing is true. (And, I use the Assume word in the same sense that Felix Unger once did -- when you Assume, you make an ass of U and me.).

If this was all true, it would be the ONLY credible explanation for holding bin Laden for this long, without disclosure. That is, we have a fear of wmd retaliation in the U.S.

Frankly, there would be no other political reason reason, nor would any operational reason exist to hold him this long. Surely he is not cooperating, and use of any intel found with him would be quick. (We would also have to be careful about using too much so as to tip AQ off that we have him). Looking at the political question, Bush would benefit from letting the country know we have him. And, the longer we have him without releasing the info, opens the President to charges of politicizing the issue.

IMHO -- I don't think we have him, if only because the secret could not be kept this well, for this long.

But, the nuclear blackmail question is, if nothing else, very interesting.

From islamOnline.net

Bin Laden Cornered In Pakistan's Northwest: Paper

LONDON, February 22 (IslamOnline.net & News Agencies) - U.S. and British special forces have cornered Al-Qaeda leader Osama Bin Laden in a mountainous area in northwest Pakistan, near the Afghanistan border, a British paper reported Sunday, February 22.

Quoting a “U.S. intelligence source”, British daily Sunday Express said Bin Laden and “up to 50 fanatical henchmen” were inside an area 16 kilometers (10 miles) wide and deep “north of the town of Khanozai and the city of Quetta”, reported Agence France-Presse (AFP).

“He is boxed in,” the unidentified source was quoted by the paper as saying, adding that U.S. special forces were “absolutely confident” that he could not escape.

According to the source, Bin Laden moved into the area, “in the desolate Toba Kakar mountains”, about one month ago from another area 240 kilometers to the south.

Taliban leader Mullah Mohammed Omar is believed to be with Bin Laden, according to the report.

The area is under surveillance from a geostationary spy satellite while U.S and British special forces await orders to move in.

‘Geographers’

The Sunday Express said Bin Laden's whereabouts had been discovered from a “combination of CIA paramilitaries and special forces, plus image analysis by geographers and soil experts”.

“They studied the background in bin Laden's last video and matched it to rocks in the Toba Kakar region,” the newspaper said.

“A two-man special forces surveillance unit infiltrated the area,” it said, adding that they picked up their first clues that Bin Laden was in the area within a week.

“Other teams then slipped in,” the paper quoted its source as saying. “To avoid any alert, helicopters were not used.”

The Sunday Express said it was also told in London by a “senior Republican close to the White House and the Pentagon” this past week that Bin Laden had been located.

“They have found Bin Laden,” the source -- described as an “intimate” of the family of U.S. President George W. Bush -- was quoted as saying.

“They now know where he is within a manageable area which can be watched and controlled.”

On Thursday, February 19, General Richard Meyers, chairman of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff, said U.S. forces were engaged in “intense” efforts to capture bin Laden, but held back from saying where he might be hiding.

“There are areas where we think it is most likely he is, and they remain the same,” said Meyers, who was speaking to reporters in Washington.

“They haven't changed in months,” said Myers.

Asked whether the Al-Qaeda leader was believed to be in Pakistan, the general replied: “Don't know that. We think in that border region somewhere. We don't know where it is precisely.”

‘Nonsense’

But a Pakistani political expert dismissed as “nonsense” U.S. claims that rocks and soil helped in locating the whereabouts of Bin Laden.

Speaking to IslamOnline.net over the phone from the Pakistani capital Islamabad, the expert, who requested anonymity, said Bin Laden keeps moving from one place to another.

However, he said it is very much likely that Bin Laden is hiding along the Pakistani borders with Afghanistan, which stretch some 1200km, adding that his hiding could be located via satellites and Taliban’s opponents.

The expert also said it is impossible to place the drawn-out borders under close scrutiny either from the Pakistani army or Afghan authorities.

He added that Pakistan had denied reports that U.S. Marines were operating in a Pakistani soil, noting that U.S. troops were not allowed into the country at least publicly to head off a public uprising.

The U.S. accuses Al-Qaeda of being behind the September 11 attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon that killed nearly 3,000 people in 2001.

More recently, the U.S. administration has also accused it of supporting attacks on U.S. forces occupying Iraq.

The last known video tape from Bin Laden was aired in September 2003 by the Arabic all-news television station Aljazeera. Three audio tapes followed, in October, December 2003 and January 2004.

In his last audio tape on January 5, Bin Laden warned that the United States would go on occupying, unless it was stopped, Saudi Arabia and the entire oil-rich Gulf region after Iraq.

Bin Laden's former chauffeur is a prisoner at the U.S. naval base at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.

Salim Ahmad Hamdan, a 34-year-old Yemeni, worked in Afghanistan for Bin Laden from 1997 until the U.S.-led invasion of the country in October 2001.

His military attorney, Navy Lieutenant Commander Charles Swift, said that Hamdan adamantly denied that he was ever a member of Al-Qaeda or engaged in any terrorist attack.

He said Hamdan worked for Bin Laden solely to support for himself and his wife and two children.

He was arrested by Afghan forces and turned over to U.S. forces in late 2001, Swift said.

"nuclear blackmail". I may have been reading far too many jihad websites, but I think this is why we have not disclosed OBL's capture. ( In fact, farfetched- but maybe we are even funding the body doubles who run around Afghanistan/Pakistan ) I believe that we are under great threat. Every day, there are increasing comments about surival tips, "what to do if hit with bio/chem", preps for nuclear war, etc.

I went back to post #4763, that was sent in this morning and reread the Yahoo article, it is the same as the N. J. article.

But this morning, it mentioned the fact that there was a first accident on Thursday........now that line has been removed.

I wondered on Thursday, if it was an accident.

It seems to me that ships coming into a port in a fog, would have a harbor guide and would not be going so fast as to sink from a simple collusion.

getting out the tinfoil.

Here in my hometown (Salem, OR), there was a disturbing crime spree last week. Someone drove around Salem shooting at parked cars and harassing people driving. For no apparent reason, he started making obscene gestures and tailgating a young woman in the southern end of town. She drove north on I-5 and exited in Keizer (a city just to the north of Salem). When she exited, the guy came up from behind, swerved in front of her to force her off of the road, jumped out of the car and shot at her. Fortunately, she got away with fairly minor injuries. This criminal was with two others, and they carjacked another lady in Woodburn (15 miles north of Salem) a few days later.

The police have finally captured one of the three people involved in the crime spree. There's a story about it in our local fish wrapper here. What they don't tell you is that this scumbag is a Mexican national here illegally. So are his two buddies. It's disgusting how much the media will try to cover up for illegals. This interesting information was brought to my attention by the best local talk show host we have, Lars Larson. He's also got a new national show on in the evening. Might want to take a listen.

So are you saying you believe or do not he is already in custody?

I think it is likely true, but I'm not 100% convinced.

There has been a lot in the news and from searches that point to ships and the al queda does have a navy, of 15 to 19 ships or more.

New Orleans is a prime target at this time and who knows what diseases will start showing up in the next month.

All the white powder in the mail, has been a warning to us,
enough of it tested positive, that we know they have it.

Read the book that I sent the link to an hour ago, it promises that the war with us is a just war and covers more points on how it will/must happen.

Put 1424 in front of your google searches and you will get more muslim links, so many that the story is often told by simply reading the titles to the links on the page.
