Thank you for finally giving us an easily searchable list of the pubs we must excerpt. Saving to disk, bookmarking and tattooing on my left palm for easy reference.

In that case, I'd excerpt it to Lott's site. Why give LAT more hits?
My point exactly. Not everything that's printed in LATimes, especially op-eds, are actually owned by them.
I'll never give them a hit. If they want Mr. Lott's material exclusively, then pay him for exclusive rights!

Let's ask. John, will you add this thread to the main page?

You're welcome. Another moderator started it, we needed an easier reference.

Here is the DU guidance:
Don't post entire copyrighted articles. If you wish to reference an article, provide a brief excerpt and include a link to the original source. Generally, excerpts should not exceed three or four paragraphs.

So if we do a bit of selective excerpting in the original post, and those who reply are judicious about quoting, the gist of the article can be posted without violating the agreements 'rules'..
Thanks..

Here's a valuable resource for those interested in copyright and fair use:
Stanford University Copyright and Fair Use Overview http://fairuse.stanford.edu/Copyright_and_Fair_Use_Overview/index.html
Many other college and university Web sites also cover copyright in order to provide guidelines for their students.
Finally, I would urge everybody to read the Free Republic Terms of Use Agreement.
My conclusion is that the only safe course is to excerpt everything except that which is obviously in the public domain.

Ha, ha. That's not for efficiency, that's to keep their pointy little heads from overheating.
