All you have to do is remove the willful distortions of the facts in the press lately and look at this whole thing realistically, I'll try to do so now
1. We know for a FACT that Saddam Hussein possessed and used both Chemical and Biological agents against his enemies and his own people. This is FACT
2. We know that he was trying to develop a Nuclear Weapon before Israel bombed their Reactor in the 1980's... FACT
3. We know that his Chemical Weapons development went undetected until after the Gulf War and undetected by Weapons Inspectors until his Son-in-Law defected and told us where they were being developed.... FACT
4. We know that after 6 years of obstruction, the U.N. Weapons inspectors could not find and destroy the WMD's Saddam himself declared he had, in 1998 the U.N. Inspectors left Iraq without destroying everything that Saddam still possessed....... FACT
5. We know that Saddam never verified the destruction of the unaccounted for WMD's he admitted having... FACT
6. We know that after 12 years of U.N. Sanctions and enforcing the No-Fly Zones, Saddam still never accounted for the WMD's he admitted having..... FACT
7. We know that after Saddam was overthrown, David Kay has reported that Saddam had "Many Clandestine Laboratories" that were in violation of U.N. Resolution 1441, and all of the other 16 U.N. Resolutions ......FACT
8. We know that Saddam was compensating the families of suicide bombers in Israel in the amount of 25,000.00 U.S. Dollars.... FACT
9. We know that after the Gulf War in 1991, we found out that Saddam was much closer to developing a Nuclear Weapon that we had estimated . FACT
After all of this... we are supposed to believe that Saddam voluntarily destroyed his WMD's after we left Iraq in 1998? The only intelligent conclusion anyone with half a brain can come up with is that either we have yet to find them in Iraq, or Saddam had them moved to Syria, and since many in his Regime fled to Syria, my guess is that they are buried in Syria.
No President who respects the Oath he takes to defend this Country could ignore these facts in a post 9/11 world. Its not like Iraq was some third world country that we had never had problems with before, in fact, we lost several hundred U.S. Soldiers in Operation Desert Storm and Saddam had agreed to terms of a cease fire that would allow him to remain in power.
After 12 years of violating every agreement he made after the Gulf War and as a Nation who expects the world to take us seriously, we needed to remove him for the sake of our fallen soldiers whose blood was used to sign that cease fire in 1991. For that reason alone, WE DID THE RIGHT THING.. Think about this...... :-)
Have you heard anything about Syria lately? any statements from the State Dept. or Defense Dept.? The answer is NO, Methinks, we are in the middle of serious negotiations with Syria as I type this. Much like the ones we were in with Libya before they capitulated. My question is... Where is Richard Armitage? he is the State Departments "Heavy Hand" and he is one hell of an asset to this country
We have heard about President Bush being a great Poker Player, Well, as a poker player myself, a good poker player has the ability to convince his opponents that they should bet on their losing hand, right now, the RATS are betting on a losing hand. There is no sense in calling their hand at this point, President Bush needs to wait until they wager all their chips first :-)
As I've been saying on so many posts ... we know he had them, proof of their destruction has not been produced, he had many nefarious colleagues in other countries, AND Iraq is the size of California!!! In 8 months, every square inch, down maybe 30-40 ft. is able to be tracked with technology or searched? I DON'T think so. As I've been saying, the caveat we need to add to the statement of not finding WMD is .... YET.
Here's some corroboration to the Syria connection .. I'll bet you're right .. Armitage is not very public anyway .. ya couldn't miss the sweet lovable bear .. but we'll never know what Dubya's got going on behind the scenes until it's long passed. AND I like that ... he is a great poker player and outsmarts 'em all .. AND THEY NEVER LEARN!!! LOL .

WMD in Syria: Kay
Ex-inspector says Iraq sent 'lot of material'
By AP
LONDON -- David Kay, who recently resigned as leader of a U.S. weapons search team in Iraq, said part of captive president Saddam Hussein's weapons program was hidden in Syria, a report in Britain's Sunday Telegraph newspaper said today. Kay was reported to have said he had uncovered evidence unspecified materials were moved to Syria shortly before last year's U.S. invasion of Iraq.
"We are not talking about a large stockpile of weapons but we know from some of the interrogations of former Iraqi officials that a lot of material went to Syria before the war, including some components of Saddam's WMD (weapons of mass destruction) program," Kay was reported saying in the interview conducted yesterday.
"Precisely what went to Syria and what has happened to it is a major issue that needs to be resolved," he added.
David Kay said Friday that Iraq had no stockpiles of biological and chemical weapons, and Secretary of State Colin Powell said yesterday it was an open question if they'd be found.
A senior U.S. official said yesterday Vice- President Dick Cheney, attending the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, believed "the jury's still out."
Speaking to reporters as he flew to today's inauguration of Georgian President-elect Mikhail Saakashvili, Powell said: The open question is how many stocks they had, if any, and if they had any, where did they go. And if they didn't have any, then why wasn't that known beforehand?"
Syria has denied pursuing weapons of mass destruction and said the long, porous border with Iraq makes it hard to stop infiltrators.
Last month, U.S. President George W. Bush approved the Syria Accountability and Lebanese Sovereignty Restoration Act, which accuses Syria of hosting Palestinian militant groups, such as Hamas and Jihad, and seeking biological and chemical weapons.
The United States made up its mind that Saddam Hussein was going to be toppled, and the U.S. was going to engage in some long-term nation-building in Iraq.
The rationale behind all that nonsense about WMDs was two-fold:
1. To convince conservatives in this country who are adamantly opposed to U.S. nation-building (much lilke George W. Bush was when he was a presidential candidate in 2000) that it isn't really "nation-building" if we can think up a good reason for it.
2. To secure public support among the same dopey soccer moms in this country who had been infatuated with Bill Clinton for most of the 1990s.
They have been doing this since President Bush took office
Interesting points. Some of us may remember that a number of GOP Congressmen actually filed suit against the Clinton administration in that case, on the grounds that the War Powers Act had been violated.
The suit was thrown out of Federal court, and it's hard to argue with the judge's rationale. He basically said that Congress passed some kind of idiotic "we support the troops" legislation with regard to the troops in the Balkans, and he (the Federal judge) had no way of knowing (and no legal authority to determine) whether that kind of half-assed Congressional resolution amounted to a formal declaration of war.
I personally feel that John Kerry will be beaten like a rented Mule this fall and all of President Bush's detractors on this subject will have more Egg on their faces than all the Scrambled Eggs that Denny's Breakfast Bar can serve in any given month :-)
This is so true. The dims are doing on a national scale, what Kennedy did to Nixon in the 1960 debate. He attacked Nixon and the Eisenhower adm. over the weapons advantage the Russians had, knowing full well it was false, but also knowing that Nixon could not respond because it was classified information. The dims also know full well the good things that are happening, and are ongoing, but know President Bush will unlike them, put the country first. This will be the dirtiest campaign in recent history, and things are just warming up.
If the people of this country elect Kerry, they will be electing a gigolo, that will do Klaus von Bulow proud.
Sarine Gas is produced from Castor Beans and Castor Beans are never used as fertilizer. We can all believe their is some conspiracy going on here to pull the wool over our eyes, but I believe this Administration simply laid out the facts as they knew them to be, and in the end they will be vindicated
From there the press took "no LARGE stockpiles" to mean Iraq had no WMD at all.
You nailed it!
