Posted on 02/10/2004 6:53:20 AM PST by Maceman
I recall that Albright has said within the last year that AMerica has to prepare for a time when it will be the most powerful nation in the world.
I need the exact quote, as well as time and place.
I have done a search on google and FR, but have had no luck. Can anyone help me find the exact quote?
Thanks to all.

I hate when this happens.
The quote I am looking for had her saying that we need to prepare for a time when we will NOT be the most powerful nation.
Sorry.
And thanks again for your help.

First this is not Breaking News or Activism...you should have put it in chat. Second, she said America needs to prepare for a time when America is NOT the most powerful.

maybe (but it is no big deal), but he needs an answer to the question of where/when Ms. Albright said this.
I think in that same speech, she said it is a dangerous world when only a few nations have nuclear abilities - about the time Clinton was accused of having facilitated the transfer of nuclear secrets to People's Republic.

I did not mean to put this in breaking news, if it got there.
Please remove from Breaking News and excuse.

I can't find the exact quote you're looking for (still looking) but I do recall the comment. Both her and her comrade, Strobe Talbot, have lamented the role of America as the sole superpower. The liberal ideals of equality extend much further than just their socio-economic policies. I don't believe there was anything accidental about China's acquisition of some of this country's most advanced technological resources. And what better way to create a balance to American power than to provide other countries with the proprietary technology that gives America that advantage.
This is really no different than what happened in the 1940's under FDR and Truman, as Communist sympathizers also gave our most advanced resources to the Soviets. In fact, it is almost a replay, right down to the atomic secrets stolen and sold from our secret labs. There has been a deliberate effort by some in this country to prevent the US from becoming too powerful...because these people truly do see the US as an evil entity. What's even scarier is that some of our most sensitive labs are run by some of our most liberal universities.

I'm not sure about Mattie, but IIRC, Bill Clinton made a speech in early 2001 at Georgetown University. In it, he said that American needed to tread lightly, because someday we will be on the same level as third world nations.
[Implication--US will become just another third-world nation, so we need to play nice or they'll gang up on us then.]

Democrats like Byrd, Albright, Jimmy Carter and others are ashamed of our power. They feel guilty. Clinton himself has talked learning to live for the day when we are "not the biggest power on the block." You do not want people who feel guilty about our power in charge of anything. You don't want people ashamed of our nation in charge of it, because they will give it away. They see the suffering of the Iraqi people and think that as long as they're suffering, we ought to all join in suffering. We ought to all sleep on a sewer grate one night to "find out what it's like," instead of seeing people suffering and using our power and optimism to liberate them. That's President Bush's path, and millions of people from all over the world - including Iraq - are walking it with him.

I did find a quote of hers from a speech she gave at Howard U. While this isn't exactly the quote I'm thinking of, it gives some insight into the globalists thoughts:
4.46 p.m. ET (2047 GMT) April 14, 1998
By Barry Schweid,
Associated Press
[Or, why Clinton is making China stronger.]
WASHINGTON (AP) Secretary of State Madeleine Albright told students at Howard University Tuesday that nuclear, chemical and biological weapons were the biggest dangers to the United States in the post-Cold War era.
"Those are weapons that know no boundaries," Albright said. "And they are a huge threat to us. We very much don't want to be out there by ourselves as the organizer and the only superpower," she said. "People don't believe that. They think we just want to be king of the hill, but we do not."
