Is Fox News in the Kerry Column?
Posted on 02/10/2004 1:03:41 PM PST by faithincowboys
Is it just me or is FOX News abandoning Bush? We should remember that the Gore people got to Murdoch and the DWI November surprise was dropped by a Fox affiliate in Maine.
Now Bill O'Reilly went on Soccer Mom morning television and publically declared the Iraq War a mistake. Apparently, he thinks that will be like Cronkite destroying LBJ. I have long thought O'Reilly would back Kerry-- he gave Kerry a soft ball interview not long ago, has never really backed Bush and is constantly in Boston. For crying out loud, Bill's political hero is RFK.
The premiere talker on cable has abandoned Bush-- we know he's not a conservative, but many people think he is and will use this coversion to make a lot of political hay. Fox's biggest act (and an act he is) has just sold out Bush and will now push for Kerry hard (like I always predicted). There should be a push back-- I recommend not watching his show or buying his book-- Let the Kerry partisans do that. We should show him who has been looking out for him and who not be anymore.
In addition to that many of the update news' readers, especially Donna Fiducia and Carol Iovanna seem to be presenting news in a very Pro Kerry way. They are presenting all of Bush's policies with a deep editorial skepticism and a bias towards Kerry. Have the powers at be at Fox made a deal with the Heinz-Kerrys? Will Fox be part of the alphabet of Left wing bias this election cycle?

I think FNC is on the Kerry bandwagon-- save Brit Hume and Sean Hannity. Everyubody else is useless.
Greg Kelly, Major ? from CNN, Shep Smith, and Bill Oh Really are total hacks. Get them off my tv, they are such politically expedient hacks.

O'Reilly is a twit...quit watching the whazoo aperture. And don't judge the network as a whole based on the rantings of one loon.

O'Reilly's endorsement of any candidate will swing less than 3 votes nationwide, including his own.
I never considered FoxNews in Bush's corner anyway. They are in Rupert Murdoch's corner, and his corner only.

They are in the get-viewers-to-watch business. News is just programming. Don't let it bother you. Be glad Kerry is the headlines instead of bombings and Scott Peterson.

Years ago, ol' Bill O'Reilly made an attack on former Senator Jesse Helms, R-NC, for no reason. I don't remember what the attack was even about. O'Reilly was trying to show conservatives who thought that he was one of them during the Clinton impeachment fiasco that he was not a real conservative. So he went after a sitting target -- Helms. Helms was retiring after that last term in the Senate, and he just ignored O'Reilly and all the media for the most part. Helms would let few commentators, other than Robert D.S. Novak, even interview him.

I don't think Fox is on the kerry bandwagon, like MSNBC etc...Unfortunately, Kerry is out there every day making accusations, challenging Pres Bush's credibility and calling him AWOL in the guard, and the press is lapping it up like hungry dogs. MSNBC just had a story where they said "President Bush is going to be running against a war hero" and still questioning his guard service even after the pay stubs etc. shown today. They are now looking for SOMEONE to say they served with him or commanded him. This is not going away. Of course, John Kerry was shown today saying "I have no comment. I have nothing more to say about it"....all nice and sweet like. We are watching the beginning of the ugliest campaign ever....and retribution for the dems losing the 2000 election. It's only beginning.

I noticed a slight change in Fox News this year. Apparently they are trying a little too hard to please the liberals lately. They have hired alot more liberal correspondents/contributors for their shows. Their weekend shows stinks and is like a re-creation of Entertainment Tonight! It's all Hollywierd and nothing else. I don't watch them that much anymore except for Fox and Friends in the morning and of course Hannity and Colmes and that's only because of Sean Hannity.

I personally am so over Fox News. Our television comes on automatically every morning at 7:00, with Fox News. We have commented for the past month that E.D. is absolutely ridiculous. I am tired of her "playing the devil's advocate" and theorizing about issues and mostly benefitting the liberals. She definitely needs to be recycled along with quite a few other closet liberals that thrive at Fox News.

I honestly believe you are correct! I have noticed for several months now that Fox News is starting to behave and act as all the other media outlets.
They first started by pushing and pushing and pushing for Hillary Clinton to run.
I honestly believe it is about wanting news to happen. They want an exciting presidential election year and in the beginning that was not going to happen.
I am truly disgusted with Fox News. I have to admit MSNBC is bias but I get better information and I am able to sort through the bias.
So much for "Fair and Balanced" news reporting. Good bye Fox News and Good Riddance.

You made a good case for O'R being in Kerry's corner, but not FNC. It's just one show on the network. Luckily, FNC isnt' the sort of network where every stance is dictated from on high.

I think you are right about FNC not being on the bandwagon. It's just that right now the political flavor is John F***ng Kerry. All Kerry all the time. Just like several months ago when the flavor of the month was Dean.
Wait till Bush begins to use the bully pulpit to his advantage after the Primaries and during and after the convention.

O'Reilly attacks rap music for messing up the culture and wants people to boycott sponsors of rappers yet he defended Maher and said no one should boycott Maher or have him lose his job for his comments about the military. Now that's hypocrisy.
As to Kerry - O'reilly allowed him to say such stupid rhetorical regurgitation of "If you're not part of the solution you're part of the problem" and did not accuse Kerry of either spinning or being being hopelessly out of date!
I think John Fing Kerry's initials have gotten to the former RFK supporter.

Where is it written that "fair and balanced" is supposed to equal mindless adulation for all things Republican ?
You won't even find that on FR !!
That said, I think Fox has given the Democrats more coverage than all the other channels put together: up to half an hour per program !

I don't think that all of Fox follows in lockstep. One thing that may be driving the perceived change is the recent Congressional hearings regarding the media. Remember when McCain claimed that the Dixie Chicks were being 'censored'? And Clearchannel was called out by name.
A lot of this is anti-Rush disguised as 'fairness'.
(McCain loathes Rush, right along with the Democrats.)

Wait till Bush begins to use the bully pulpit to his advantage after the Primaries and during and after the convention. I can't wait. I think it is coming real soon. He is already starting to come out swinging. But like he said to Tim Russert, "Kerry isn't even the nominee." Bush is saving his ammo.

Don't forget how good those Fox inbeds were during one of the greatest military movements in the history of warfare.
Brit Hume alone is worth the price of admission. Anything else on the network is icing on the cake.

I don't know what it is, but these past couple of weeks Fox News just seems like dopiest channel out there. One thing they've done for a long time that annoys me is they'll get an interview going and thirty seconds into they call it off to go to a "Breaking News" item.....usually some kind of building/warehouse/porta-potty in Cheyenne, Wyoming with smoke poruing out of it. That's breaking news????
But lately I just can't stand it. There's just something super-hokey about it now. I haven't even watched it at all this week.

At least, i know where Chrissy is coming from. How can you stand him?
His show last night, where he practically tongued Max Cleland, was the most reprehensible bit of television I've seen in a long time.
Matthews is convinced that this National Guard thing has legs, even as evidence comes out that it does not.
It's about time for him to start blaming "Scooter Libby" and other "neo-cons" for the ills of the world. He's a pathetic shill for the Democrat Party.

Hume is undoubtedly one of the best newsmen in the old sense of the word. His interviewing style is subtle and probing. I love that man!
I will stick with FOX, even with all of the Dem antics and liberal lunacy they are covering. I can't take Chrissy "I served with Tip O'Neil" Matthews for more than 15 seconds. The man does not interview anyone or care to hear an answer before he asks his next DNC question. GGGGRRRR!
To: sirshackleton
FoxNews has been turning me off too lately. They are shilling big tome for Kerry. Even the usual conservative pit bull Barnes has been orgasming over him. I noticed when they do a Bush-said, Kerry-said, Bush has a two second sound bite but Kerry gets a 30 second rebuttal. If I want those media tricks I can watch CNN. Brit and Cavuto are all that channel has left.
