SEN. JOHN KERRY’S HYPOCRISY -- Turns Out Cash And Kerry Is A PAC Man

SEN. JOHN KERRY’S HYPOCRISY, VOL. I, ISSUE 6
Turns Out Cash And Kerry Is A PAC Man
___________________________________________________________________

Candidate Kerry: “I’m the only person serving in the United States Senate today who has been elected four times without ever accepting in any of my races one dime of political action committee money.”  (Sen. John Kerry, NBC’s “Today,” 2/5/04)

“Kerry also tried to draw a line between taking money from individuals and taking political action committee checks, which he never did.  ‘The maximum I set for myself was $1,000 check and that’s all I ever took.’”  (Noelle Straub, “Dean Rips Insider John,” Boston Herald, 2/1/04)

CANDIDATE KERRY ATTACKS SPECIAL INTERESTS AND PAC MONEY,
CASH AND KERRY RUNS HIS OWN SOFT AND HARD MONEY PACS

Eight Months After Voting To Ban National Party Soft Money, Kerry Created His Own Soft Money Committee Called Citizen Soldier Fund, Which Accepted Large Corporate Soft Money Contributions. (S. 27, CQ Vote #64: Passed 59-41: R 12-38; D 47-3, 4/2/01, Kerry Voted Yea; Year End 2001 Report For Citizen Soldier Fund - Non-Federal Account, IRS Website, www.irs.gov, Accessed 1/29/04)

Ø       Kerry’s Soft Money Committee Collected “More Than $470,000 Directly From Companies And Unions In 2002.”  (John Solomon, “Kerry, Edwards Boasts About Special Interest Money Don’t Tell Whole Story,” The Associated Press, 2/2/04)

And Kerry Created His Own Hard Money PAC, Also Called Citizen Soldier Fund, Which Raised Over $700,000.  (Federal Election Commission Website, www.fec.gov, Accessed 2/10/04)

CASH AND KERRY’S “PAC-FREE” SENATE CAMPAIGN CLAIMS FALSE

Contrary To Candidate Kerry’s Claims, “The Public Record Shows That Kerry Was Neither The First Nor The Only” Senator Elected Three Times Without PAC Money.  “As a presidential candidate, John F. Kerry has repeatedly railed against the corruptive influence of special-interest money in politics, and has proudly declared on various occasions that he is the only or first person elected to the US Senate three times without taking campaign contributions from political action committees. ... But the public record shows that Kerry was neither the first nor the only senator elected three times without money from political action committees. ... David L. Boren appears to be the first person elected three times to the Senate without PAC money, in 1978, 1984, and 1990.”  (Glen Johnson, “Doubt Cast On Kerry’s ‘Pac-Free’ Claim,” The Boston Globe, 6/12/03)

TURNS OUT CASH AND KERRY RAISED THOUSANDS
IN PAC MONEY IN ‘72 AND ‘82 CAMPAIGNS

Kerry Now Admits He Took PAC Money In 1972 House Bid And 1982 Lt. Governor’s Race.  “Kerry spokeswoman Stephanie Cutter confirmed Kerry took the PAC money in 1972, and another small amount in 1982 when he ran for Massachusetts lieutenant governor, before abandoning such donations starting with his 1984 run for the Senate.  ‘In his first public race 32 years ago, John Kerry took money from autoworkers, teachers, electricians, and Democratic groups that account for 5 percent of the money he raised in a losing House race,’ the spokeswoman said.”  (John Solomon and Aparna H. Kumar, “Kerry Pocketed Speaking Fees,” The Associated Press, 2/9/04)

Ø      In 1972, Kerry Accepted Nearly $20,000 In PAC Contributions.  “[R]ecords from his unsuccessful race for the House in 1972 show Kerry collected about $20,000 from PACs, most of them associated with labor unions.  For instance, the AFL-CIO’s PAC gave him $3,000, and the railway clerks’, autoworkers’ and state, county and municipal workers’ PACs donated $500 apiece.”  (John Solomon and Aparna H. Kumar, “Kerry Pocketed Speaking Fees,” The Associated Press, 2/9/04)

Not only does Kerry take special interest money, but he is also a lover of PACs. Whatever happened to donations from regular people?

LOL!!! If he told the truth, then I might really be stunned. All these articles are just amazing with all their sources!

Hard to believe he thought he could get by with his lies and no one would call him on them! The word "dumb" comes to mind!

Think I spent a good deal 2000 complaining about RNC and their lack of doing anything positive in the election. Nicholson would go on cable but even then he wasn't very good IMO.

RNC has turned it around since those days! Cannot believe how much RNC is turning out now from their research. I like it because it is sourced -- no anonymous sources used.

Whackjob (Dean) dropping out, Wussley (Clark) as well.. leaves Kerry and Edwards. It would seem that Mr. Edwards candidacy will not survive either.

In my estimation Kerry has zero chance of winning against Pres. Bush on issues. He will get the lockstep vote of his party.

Would be helpful to have that recent picture of Kerry with Fonda posted everywhere, everday, until election. Looks like a 60's stoner if there ever was one. Does NOT look like the kind of person who should lead the most powerful country in the free world.

He is betting the sycophantic media will let him slide on his lies, and in general terms, he's right.

All we're hearing is BS about President Bush's National Guard service.

Wonderful phrase, 'torrent of negative information'. Pitiful that he's considered the most electable of the dems.

I had to go take a break, I was getting so punchy trying to keep up with it all.

Pitiful accurately describes the Democrat position... they are basically saying "I hate Booosh, and you should too! Vote for me or else!"

That is a negative position, it builds nothing constructive, and perpetual hate is unsustainable, too. No normal human being can maintain himself in such a state without something popping off.

Hate consumes the hater. As you said, negative and destructive.

Don't be too sure. Remember, most of what you read that is negative about Kerry is in Conservative Media.

Big Media, where most people get their information, in general ignores and buries the negatives.

Just compare how Big Media dug through the trash cans to get information of G.W.'s National Guard service and how reluctant Big Media is in getting any information on Kerry's anti-war activities, his burying of POW sightings and his voting record - to name a few.
