GOP senators denounce snooping staffers

Republicans on the Senate Judiciary Committee fiercely denounced staffers in their own party yesterday for secretly accessing computer files of their Democratic colleagues.

Sen. Lindsey Graham, South Carolina Republican and member of the Judiciary Committee, said that acquiring the Democratic memos was "an unethical or illegal wrong."

This situation has created a perfect opportunity for the Republicans to do some serious damage to the democrats. These turncoats must have something to hide, or they wouldn't give in so easily.

My my, the prissy boys and girls who RULE our nation sure seem to have a cozy set-up, don't you think?

I wonder how it would be to have that much power and prestige, to be a world leader, to make rules for the peons and to rip the peons' money away via a separate agency so that you can make more rules to rule them and vote yourself a raise.

These people have entirely too much power and it really burns my hide. I'm paying for all this crap and I didn't even get a towel.

Leahy and Kennedy's comments literally made my skin crawl. Those two should be forced to wear bells and shout

BARF!!!! I know something is truly amiss when there is praise from "both sides of the aisle." That only happens when we are selling out our own.

Shame on my Senator Lindsey Graham. I'm not totally surprised since I will always be somewhat skeptical of him because of his support of McCain (R-Media). Any Republican that chose him over Bush has some serious lack of judgment issues. He was great during impeachment, but now forever somewhat tainted.

Kyl, on the other hand, is one of my Senate heroes. Say it isn't so Jon. I thought Kyl was one of our true fighters. All I have left now is Jeff Sessions and Mitch McConnell. Sessions doesn'tt make enough noise and Mitch isn't on Judiciary and doesn't chime in on these matters. Come on Saxby, you are my up and coming idol. Speak out.

What a whimpy go along get along group our Republican Senators are. Those memos are a bombshell and a national disgrace!! Start attacking you wimps!

I feel so bad for that patriotic Frist staffer. Sold down the river by Senate congeniality only practiced by Republicans. What a disgrace.

He was referring to the 14 Democratic memos at least two Republican staffers have told Senate investigators they viewed on the Democratic computer server.

Really now? Does the DNC own the server or is it government property? If congressmen are not going to be tech savvy, then perhaps they have served too long.

Sen. Edward M. Kennedy, a Massachusetts Democrat whose memos were exposed, called the episode a virtual Watergate.

The NAACP lobbying a senator to block judicial nominees (minority nominees no less) so as to influence a judicial decision on affirmative action in Michigan is its own scandal, Teddy.

Kyl is one of my senators. I was surprised by his response, especially since his response to one of my emails indicated he wasn't going to let this go. I fired off a 'reminder' a short while ago, told him I expect him to do his job and fight for an investigation of the content of the memos.

"Thirty years ago, a president had to leave office because his agents were caught breaking into the opposition's offices to get confidential information," he said. "In those days, break-ins required physical presence, burglar's tools, lookouts and getaway cars.

"Today, theft may only require a computer and the skills to use it — and the will to break in," Mr. Kennedy added.

I beg to differ Mr. Kennedy. Watergate involved a break in to a private office. These files existed on a government owned server and therefore were government property. There was no falsification of ID or fraud perpetrated to access the files. Miguel Miranda was a whistleblower.

No Republican senator disputed Mr. Kennedy's assertion or those leveled by any other Democrats on the committee.

And with their silence the RINOs have sold us out.

Grrrrr! I appreciate Lindsay Graham's acumen and articulate way of saying things. But this abject mea culpa and self-flagellation about the culture "we" have created is crap. The damnable dems have done it alone--or if the repubs helped, they did it by ALLOWing the dems to get by with it.

What is WRONG with these repubs that they can't recognize the enemy when being attacked and butchered. Don't they recognize their own blood?

I used to think that those in Arizona were lucky to have Kyl, in spite of McCain (R-Media). I'm even more disappointed to know that he said he wouldn't let this go and then did a 180. Keep holding his feet to the fire and don't let this go. I'd join you except I've long since learned that Senators don't care at all what people other then their constituents have to say. I will however pester Lindsey Graham for what it is worth. He is as safe as safe can be and his office knows that.
