[history]
A former senior Virginia Air National Guard commander, who served with George W. Bush in the Texas Air Guard, says Bush volunteered for Vietnam combat service but was turned down because he did not have the required flight experience.
William J. Campenni, a retired Air Guard colonel, also said absences such as Bush's from his unit were common in the Air Guard during the period of Bush's service and still are.

The liberals won't care, they are psychotic about this National Guard stuff. The evidence being accumulated that supports President Bush is pretty darn impressive, though. Am kind of glad it was raised this early in the campaign and wasn't one of the Democrats' standard last-minute smear jobs, when there wouldn't be time to respond.

An Airforce pilot can't fly with cavities. He will be removed from flying status until they are properly repaired.

My husband is really into the stock market like I'm into politics. I asked him if this investigation into Bush's military records got his attention as an unbiased observer. He said "No. They're just playing politics and digging up dirt. I don't think anyone cares."
My sister is bored by news, and usually doesn't pay any attention until about a month before an election. I asked her what she thought about the Bush military investigation. She said she really wasn't following it. She didn't know anything about it. No one cares.
I asked my brother, a libertarian (ugh!) what he thought about the Bush military investigation. He said they were acting like a$$es.
I asked my daughters friends mother, a Democrat, what she thought about the Bush military investigation. She said the Democrats were acting like children.
Does anyone even care about this other than the press who needs to fill their air time? It's getting really old. Maybe they'll use the Kerry bimbo story next week just for something new. Sheesh!

John I have the gut feeling you might be as old as me, Have you ever seen the Democrat Party this pathetic?
Can anyone explain what the Democrats message is besides "We Hate Bush because he ignores us" ????
I grew up in the sixties and witnessed Lyndon Johnson's failure, Nixon's Diplomatic expansion and his fall from grace. Gerald Ford's short time in the Sun and Carter's complete and utter failure before Ronald Ronald came along and restored my faith and love for this country. Since then the Democrats have never recovered, and all I see now is the further decline of the democrat party. Bill Clinton was their last Oasis, and he ended up a disgraceful lying scoundrel.
What I see now is complete and utter desperation coming from the extreme left of their Party, that has more of a chance to drive the moderate democrats away before they align themselves with a fringe group of pessimistic losers who have hijacked the party of Harry Truman, Scoop Jackson and the modern day true Democrats like Zell Miller.
John, When GWB gets reelected, I believe we will see the democrats in the U.S. Senate and U.S. House follow the similar path the Texas State Legislature's did, and run from their responsibilities, rather than face the music

In the 1971/1972 the Airforce started phasing down its officer corps, as the Vietnam pullout began. The USAF officer corps, which had swelled temporarily from 100,000 to 300,000 for the war, began reducing back to 100,000 officers, which they achieved around 1974 or so.
In addition, the F-102's were old, obsolete, and fighter interceptors only, couldn't carry bombs. They had no use in Air Superiority in South Vietnam, and the migs were no longer flying in the north. We had lots of trouble keeping the few we had in the air in 1969. They had a tendency to fall out of the sky (with no help from the VietCong).
They were essentially worthless for us there, and their original purpose (when built in 1954) as air defense fighters to intercept and shoot down Russian bombers over North America, had no mission.

Is there any proof Kerry was really awarded those medals other than he told us so? Vets are questioning them. I read it on a chat site where vets were talking about how Kerry lied about them. They think he picked them up after a protest and claimed them as his own.
I'd like to see Kerry's military records now. It's his turn to prove himself. If he really did get them awarded to him, then fine. No harm done.

I won't settle for anything less that the official signed and dated med reports. That's another question. He would have been wounded and hospitalized three times. He must be torn up. Why have we never heard about his wounds or scars. He never mentioned getting hit, especially three times!
Excuse my curiosity, but all we know about his service is what HE has told us! Democrats are known for lies. How do we know he's being honest about this?

I don't have any sources for this but from what I have read I gather that two of Kerry's wounds were so minor that he didn't miss a minute's worth of service .... and the more serious of the injuries put him out of service for one day after which he returned to duty as what he calls "walking wounded." I'm of the understanding that any injury at all entitles one to a Purple Heart.
I think that he should release his records. However, I am not holding my breath awaiting the clamor from the media for such disclosure. They have far more important things to do ..... such as finding out whether the President ever jay-walked ... and whether or not he had a full set of teeth when he did so.

I think that he should release his records.I'm more interested in the silver star records. I looked up info on the silver star, and here's one piece of info I found.....
Third, there is some dispute about the event which was the basis for Kerrys Silver Star. One published account reports that his river patrol boat came under fire from the bank and returned fire. As the craft approached the shore, a wounded Viet Cong was observed running away. Kerry is supposed to have chased him, and both disappeared from sight. Shots were heard. Kerry jumped aboard and claimed that there had been a firefight. Result: one Silver Star. If this published report is true, there were no witnesses to the actionyet two witnesses are required for a Silver Star recommendation. As Burkett and Whitley have written, Silver Stars are awarded only for actions in combat; most of those who receive a Silver Star suffer wounds in the process. Receiving a Silver Star requires witnesses and significant substantiation of valor. The authors of Stolen Valor continue: How a soldier, sailor, or Marine receives a valorous medal essentially hasnt changed since the Civil! l War. One way is from the bottom up. For example, a soldier is with a platoon in the field [or on a river boat]. The North Vietnamese [or Viet Cong] start pouring over his platoons perimeter [or firing from the shore]. Hes screaming orders, dragging wounded, saving people [chasing a wounded VC into the jungle]being your basic hero. The next day an after-action report by his commander will describe the soldiers bravery. The other men who saw the events will be motivated to nominate the hero for recognition. The recommendation goes up the chain of command and is either approved or denied. The top-down process occurs when higher-upsthe company or battalion commandernominate him. Aware that something heroic has happened, his superiors interview witnesses and nominate the soldier, sailor, or airman for a medal. The system is open to a certain amount of back scratching. Say a platoon [or a river boat] fights a battle. People fight; some die. The platoon lea! der [or boat commander] wants a Silver Star, and he lets the platoon s ergeant [or seaman] know that the way the sergeant [or seaman] can earn his own Bronze Star Medal is to authenticate his superiors heroism. Except for outright fabrication, this is usually not an official cause of concern. Whatever the medal, there has to be a recommendation by the command authority and supporting evidence. The higher the decoration [the Silver Star is the third highest], the more stringent thee requirements for supporting documentation. (Emphasis added).
When awards like the Silver Star are ordered (there is an actual order issued), a citation is also issued describing the conduct that is the basis for the medal. This completes the paper trail.

Wes Pruden had an excellent piece about a week ago in which he detailed the Senator's wounds. All together, he was out of action for a whopping two days for the three wounds. But because he had three wounds (none life-threatening or even very serious), he took his way back to the motherland, as regs allowed.
And shortly thereafter began protesting the war.

My father was hit in the face with a bayonet. It knocked him out. When he came to, the "crouts" were still there fighting. He killed the one that stabbed him and a few more , but then he was taken to the hospital.
Because military supplies didn't come in, the doctors had to re-use the needles. Dad got hepatitis that damaged his liver. He died.
All he got was the purple heart. He gave his life.
That's why I want to know exactly what kind of hero Kerry really was. Is he a fake? If he is, I'll be pi$$ed. My father did more than he did.
There's rumors he found his medals in the field after a protest. If he did, he dishonors my dad by lieing about his own heroism. If he's claiming to be a hero when so many others really were, he doesn't deserve to be in Washington, let alone the White House!
All I'm asking is verification he's telling the truth.
