Kerry to Imus: "Nothing to Report" on Drudge Allegations
Imus in the Morning - MSNBC
Posted on 02/13/2004 4:49:53 AM PST by governsleastgovernsbest
In a just-completed interview with Don Imus on his MSNBC show, John Kerry claimed that there was "nothing to report" regarding the Drudge allegations regarding an affair between Kerry and an unnamed woman.
The question by Imus came only after a sycophantic display of groveling on Imus's part. Imus wrung his hands over the unfair Bush attack machine, worrying whether Kerry is prepared for $200 million in assaults from the Bush campaign.
Imus was terribly concerned that the campaign was being distracted from the "real" issues - ie W's perceived weakenesses on the economy and Iraq, to get into military records and other extraneous matters.
Only, then in the most ginger matter, and after announcing that he Imus had endorsed Kerry, did he very cautiously ask whether there would be anything on the Drudge allegations to cause Imus to jump off the Kerry bandwagon.
No, assured Kerry, there is "nothing there to report, you don't have to worry, you won't have to take back your endorsement."
Imus did add on the air, after the interview, that given his categorical denial, Kerry would be in big trouble if anything were later to emerge showing his denial to have been untruthful

Imus has a checkered past himself, takes one to know one. Brothers under the skin. What a joke.

This is why we are here on Freerepublic, it is time for us to start digging up Kerry's past on the key issues and getting it into the press locally and nationally. Kerry can't be allowed to cut and run, I am sure we can find or get more information on this subject as well as others. It is time to play hardball with this liberal chumps!

Either Kerry has all his bases covered and thinks the young lady in question will not talk or this had to be the worst statement to make since Gary Hart begged the media to follow him.

Kerry was lying. He had an attack of dry throat just a s Imus was getting to the point in the script where he was about to ask the non-question question.

Imus wrung his hands over the unfair Bush attack machine, worrying whether Kerry is prepared for $200 million in assaults from the Bush campaign. I lost any shred of respect I ever had for Imus with this reaction on his part. How is it that Kerry's "bimbo problem," which has apparantly been one of the worst-kept secrets in Washington for years, and which was revealed to a number of reporters by one of Kerry's Democratic rivals in the primaries, can possibly be attributed to "the unfair Bush attack machine?"
Although I should point out that Imus was right when he compared this incident to the infamous "Willie Horton" affair from 1988 -- that one also originated in the Democratic Party during the primary season (candidate Al Gore used it against Mike Dukakis), but somehow made history as part of a "nasty Republican campaign."

I suppose someone has to do the extremely unpleasant task of watch Socialist stiffs like Perky and Dead Boy Imus. Man, just looking at that guy is a nightmare. I swear he died 8 years ago and we're looking at a dessicated corpse. This moron is an alcoholic (remember, once an alki, always an alki) a drug addict that blew half of Manhattan's yearly coke deliveries up his deviated septum. Speaking of his hair, man that is fright wig. It only gets better when he has to breath through the oxygen mask or cannula.
His wife must take some kind of curare potion and lir there without moving while this needled**k goes through the motions. God if I were her I'd be puking in the head 24/7.

I think there's something to what Rush speculated yesterday. The Clintons no longer think that President Bush is unbeatable in 2004, they pulled their "Kerry file" out and let this leak. They may be politically hitting the frontleaders making way for Hillary. If so, Bush is sandbagging and being under estimated again. How can the Dems win running against a recovering booming economic recovery? Unemployment never fell below 94%, many people are working more than one job, many people are working off the books. This is damn near full employment. How can they run against an administration who has successfully taken the war on terror to the lands of the enemies and away from America? Bring it on! I've always hear how politically savvy the Clintons are, they always seemed very transparent, heavy handed and stupid to me.

Just what I expected from Imus. What a dope. He just kissed Kerry's....
Typical of Imus.
I don't understand how anyone is willing to watch this loser each morning. Imus is not intelligent at all, nor does he offer any entertainment value.

I don't understand how anyone is willing to watch this loser each morning. As members of the ping list know, I make it a regular morning thing to watch and report on liberal bias at The Today Show. But I draw the line at Imus. I tuned in this morning only because I'd heard Kerry would be on.
To: governsleastgovernsbest
Oh, brother. Reported just now by CNN. Imus interviewed Kerry and Kerry categorically stated there is nothing in his past that would make Imus change his support for him. Dope, stressed, categorically. Then they went on to bash Bush and special interest groups.
I never have CNN on. Thats a perfect example why.
Imus, CNN. Now, back to Fox and Friends. Whew!

glgb gives a great recap of the Drudge discussion between Imus and Kerry.
I think I"m in shock that Imus let him off so easily.
Surprized too that at least Imus or Bernard didnt' mention how the Governor of Conn gave Imus the same clean bill of health on his ethics and now has been accused of all sorts of money illegalities.

I have a son the same age as Imus's son and I get SO SICK of listening to him brag about his kid and how smart and special he is. The kid is just going to be another spoiled brat, out of touch punk, raised by rich, self righteous parents and a slew of nannie's and maids. Hopefully he will have a higher IQ than his father who I have lost ALL respect for.

Thanks for the report. So essentially, Kerry didn't deny anything. He just stated his wish on the subject - nothing to report. Pretty savvy really. When this story hits the mainstream, he will be on record as not denying it. No lie - no story. Works for most dems.

I missed the interview! It was on too early for me. But they don't sound too impressed, and at least Imus, Charles and Bernard all agree Clinton is behind it, whatever the veracity of the story.
Imus just said he thinks the guy is telling the truth. I can't tell if he means it or not. Everybody is giggling.

To: ClintonBeGone
I think Imus is setting Kerry up. He continues to say Kerry made a complete denial, and if anything turns up he's dead. Kerry didn't deny anything, but if any more facts turn up, Imus won't go along with the statement that Kerry didn't deny anything. And since all the rest of the press will pick it up as a flat out denial, they'll be in the same boat.
If anything turns up and Kerry starts parsing words he is toast. But, who knows if anyone has any actual facts.
To: Quilla
essentially, Kerry didn't deny anything. He just stated his wish on the subject - nothing to report. Pretty savvy really. When this story hits the mainstream, he will be on record as not denying it. No lie - no story. Works for most dems. No doubt Kerry will try that approach if/when the allegations are proved true. Still, it was hard to listen to his statement and not take it as a denial of the substance. That's certainly how Imus interpreted and why he said that Kerry would be in big trouble if the story were proved true.
To: wndycndy
I bet Imus' other 4 children love it when he acts like this child, by his new trophy wife, is his only child.
He must have some grandkids that he totally ignores also.

I don't typically watch Imus, so I don't know who the guy is, but the announcer/commentator with the shaved head said he thought Kerry was lying and that 99.9999% of such 'sex stories' turn out to be true.
Imus defends Kerry.
