I see your point about entrapment.

However in this instance, I don't mind even if it is.
My reasoning is that if he was susceptible to manipulation by US Government agents, he would obviously be vulnerable to manipulation by Islamoterrorists. Better we find out this way.

Besides, I'm not one who believes that a person can be "manipulated" to do something they wouldn't do anyway. They just use the "manipulators" arguments to convince themselves to do it.

He was traitor scum at heart, not an "All American Boy".

Allow me to put a qualifier in there.

Not without some serious brainwashing, anyway. But simple prompting won't do it.

I am well aware that the Constitution allows free exercise of religions, apparently only as long as they are NOT Christianity BTW, Ha Ha, ...

But the judges could ban Islam overnight, just as quickly as they legalized gay marriage. A charismatic President, like FDR was, could grab the Muslims just as quickly as FDR did the Japanese. But I only mildly said that I thought the Consitution might be amended. Just how much terrorism do you think Muslims would have to do in the USA, before this option were considered?

There is also possibly, the option of doing what the New York state supremes did already in 1892, and say that the freedom-of-religion provisions referred only to the legitimate and normal religions at the time and place... [that is, of course, basically just Christianity and Judaism...] and specifically banned Islam, Buddhism, various tribal and voodoo, animist etc cults and supposed table tippers, new agers, spiritualist cults, and who knows whatever as no more than fortune tellers and necromancers etc-- calling them all PRETENDED religions, and outlawing them.

Whether one is for or against such ideas, they certainly will come in as our liberties continue to erode, the only question is how fast and who will be the primary target.

In my example I spoke of Islam. It is probably more likely that Christianity will be the first religion banned.

Do you know if Anderson is white?

I was wondering if he's one of the "blue eyes" the terrorists are so proud to have or another Black Muslim from W. State.

Very good points all. This case makes me wonder about the stability, or "manipulability," of the majority of America's young men in general.

You may have seen other threads on this incident where someone posted some of the Usenet posts this Guardsman made. He referred to his "Arabic History" class in college and the like. Given the systematically left-wing (or at least nihilist) direction of America's educational system, which this kid is a product of, I wonder how many more of these incidents we'll be hearing about in the future.

what is your suggestion for solving the problem?

Leaving the political aspects of banning a particular religion aside, I think that the Patriot Act and uniform shall-issue CCW laws in all fifty states or, better yet, Vermont style gun laws in all states can go a long way toward putting the damper on terrorist activities by domestic muslims.

I believe strongly that everyone deserves the right to practice their religion regardless of how wierd others may think it is as long as otherwise no laws are broken in the process. The fact is, there are millions upon millions of peaceful followers of Islam. They have a right to follow thier religion. Another established fact is that the Islamic faith spawns terrorists, ergo: Moslems need to be watched, we must be prepared to defend ourselves and they must know that we are watching and are prepared and have the will to act if they show the slightest sign of acting up.

Banning one of the worlds major religions would strike at the very heart and essence of the principles the United States of America was founded upon. It cannot be allowed.

He was definitely ripe for use as a non-mideastern looking Al-Q terror-tool.

Yes, he's white. I should have thought the phrase "All-American Boy" would be a tip off, even without seeing his picture. The press often uses the phrase as a cynical code meaning "white boy who belongs to no oppressed minority."

All American Boy always seem to mean 'gee we're really surprised that such a nice boy would need islam. We expect that from poor black kids but not Abercrombie and Fitch models.'

I don't think he got that high up on the Al-Qaeda food chain to be considered for anything important. From what I've heard, how he conducted his crimes was monumentally stupid. If the people taking the information he was offering had an ounce of raw intelligence, they would know he was just some Loser in Life who they could string along until they got tired of him.

Well! Dern my hide!

Must be the rightwing conservative showin' in me-to be thinking an "All-American boy" might be any color whatever.Guess I need to work on this racist attitude I've got. ;o)

I have wondered at times if McVeigh and Nichols hadn't converted to Islam and kept it under wraps.

Anderson seems to have a few things in common with the Ok.City murderers.

Anderson is too stupid to pull off anything spectacular. And somehow I get the impression he's going through an Islam "phase". Next year he could be a "born-again Christian", then 10 years from now he could be a Buddhist. Somehow he just strikes me as that type.

Glad to hear about his background, actually. It will send an important message to FRY a clean-cut, ex-Lutheran, Amercian boy for treason. (Or can they still do hangings or firing squads?)

I tell you what, after that nonsense with Johnny Taliban, and considering the apparently solid evidence in this case, I'll be damned pissed if they don't charge treason, or whatever absolute maximum serious charge the evidence allows.

Who cares. I don't. This "phase" has earned him execution. Try him and fry him. No more phases for this perp.

You're right. Leftist idiots want us to embrace those who would destroy us, all in the name of "diversity". Screw 'em.
