Iran newspaper cites Kerry memo criticizing U.S. foreign policy
World Tribune ^ | 13 Feb 04 | MIDDLE EAST MEDIA RESEARCH INSTITUTE

Posted on 02/14/2004 12:48:33 AM PST by F14 Pilot

According to an article published in the Tehran Times, the office of U.S. Senator and leading Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry sent an email message to the Mehr News Agency. The following is the article as it appeared in English:(1)

"The office of Senator John Kerry, the frontrunner in the Democratic presidential primary in the U.S., sent the Mehr News Agency an email saying that Kerry will try to repair the damage done by the incumbent president if he wins the election. The text of the e-mail follows:

"'As Americans who have lived and worked extensively overseas, we have personally witnessed the high regard with which people around the world have historically viewed the United States. Sadly, we are also painfully aware of how the actions and the attitudes demonstrated by the U.S. government over the past three years have threatened the goodwill earned by presidents of both parties over many decades and put many of our international relationships at risk.

"'It is in the urgent interests of the people of the United States to restore our country's credibility in the eyes of the world. America needs the kind of leadership that will repair alliances with countries on every continent that have been so damaged in the past few years, as well as build new friendships and overcome tensions with others.

"'We are convinced that John Kerry is the candidate best qualified to meet this challenge. Senator Kerry has the diplomatic skill and temperament as well as a lifetime of accomplishments in [the] field of international affairs. He believes that collaboration with other countries is crucial to efforts to win the war on terror and make America safer.

"'An understanding of global affairs is essential in these times, and central to this campaign. Kerry has the experience and the understanding necessary to successfully restore the United States to its position of respect within the community of nations. He has the judgment and vision necessary to assure that the United States fulfills a leadership role in meeting the challenges we face throughout the world.

"'The current Administration's policies of unilateralism and rejection of important international initiatives, from the Kyoto Accords to the Biological Weapons Convention, have alienated much of the world and squandered remarkable reserves of support after 9/11. This climate of hostility affects us all, but most especially impacts those who reside overseas. Disappointment with current U.S. leadership is widespread, extending not just to the corridors of power and politics, but to the man and woman on the street as well.

"'We believe John Kerry is the Democrat who can go toe-to-toe against the current Administration on national security and defense issues. We also remain convinced that John Kerry has the best chance of beating the incumbent in November, and putting America on a new course that will lead to a safer, more secure, and more stable world.'"

***The Hard & Fast Facts The Democrats & Media STILL Don't Understand***

1. Americans are glad Saddam is gone and his rotten kids are dead.

We're glad GWB had the balls Clinton didn't have, and we're glad that GWB gave us the reason, or even just the cover, to go kick his ass out of power...3000 Americans were killed by these bastards and Saddam was happy about it and WOULD have helped if he didn't.

This bastard was paying suicide bombers...Americans don't give a damn whether we ever find those WMD, we wanted his head and we got it.

That's why Libya came across and the others will too....they know that GWB means what he says and if they don't we're coming after them, next. You betcha.

The UN and the rest of the world knows GWB and America means what it says, this ain't the clinton's any more....

2. Kerry will never be elected President.

Americans have a deep sense of fairness, and even those of us who didn't go to Viet Nam, knew that our friends that did, didn't want to go, and those of us MEN, who were subjected to the draft, (and you women can just stay out of this...it's like having a baby....that's yours, the draft is ours) felt deep inside for the friends we lost, and that POS Kerry joining Hanoi Jane, (a woman not subjected to the draft, and a traitor) was a betrayal, and we are never going to forgive him for his testmony against the soldiers who were fighting....we protesetd the war, not those who were FORCED, OFTEN against their will, to go fight it.......

So you liberals in the press and the PC democrats can whistle any tune or tell any lie you want.....We're with GWB and that's the way it is.

I predict restraint. If anyone else had done this, and we still don't know who actually did it, we might have gotten a rise out of the secretary. But it's an election year, and all bets are off. In any case, the sentiments expressed in this letter are in stark contrast to the Bush administration's vision.

I predict you're wrong. Assuming it is authentic, Kerry is responsible for correspondence that leaves his office. This is meddling in what is the responsibility of the Executive Branch and the oversite committees of Congress.

I suspect this is a setup. Kerry is stupid, but not that stupid.
Designed to set conservatives howling, all the while giving free exposure to Kerry getting his point across on how he would appease terrorist governments. When it is actually the conservatives are repeating the information by responding with outrage.

Would Kerry deny or denounce the statements in the email? No
Would Kerry deny sending the email? YES!

Agreed

If conservatives get outraged and repeat this email, it gets Kerry's point across quite well. Kerry can deny having sent the email, but agree fully with what it says.

Kerry's butt is covered, conservatives look like the extremists. Win win for Kerry

I smell a political operation going on here.

Iranian Alert -- February 14, 2004 -- IRAN LIVE THREAD --Americans for Regime Change in Iran

Posted by DoctorZIn

The US media almost entirely ignores news regarding the Islamic Republic of Iran. As Tony Snow of the Fox News Network has put it, “this is probably the most under-reported news story of the year.” But most American’s are unaware that the Islamic Republic of Iran is NOT supported by the masses of Iranians today. Modern Iranians are among the most pro-American in the Middle East.

Who wins in the end if the conservatives go nuts?

You and I know that it is a statement telegraphing that Kerry will apease the terrorist countries.

It gives ammo to the press, leftists to paint GW and conservatives as the enemies by their objection to the contents of this email.
The fight for votes is for the undecided "independent" voter. If that voter is not well educated on what this email really means, they will snag a few more voters.

Maybe I'm just overthinking this, but I still smell something fishy here.

I've seen this Kerry email posted on three separate threads since this past Tuesday. On one of the threads, someone pointed out that Kerry's office admitted to writing it, although they stated it was 'auto-sent' to the Tehran Times along with many other recipients. The media is purposefully ignoring it and their stance attests to their power. Take for instance the recent poll that has a majority of Americans believing the President purposefully over-stated the existence of WMD's in Iraq. The media started that rumor, feed it to the sheeple, and now many believe it.

I think we should be cautious about believing this, or at least believing that it shows evil intent; it may be fabricated by the Tehran Times, or it may be an automated reply sent to anybody who asked a question with certain keywords in it.

I assume that the Kerry 'office' referred to is a campaign office, not one of his Senate ones which would clearly be violating the law by sending out campaign material like this. If it is from a campaign office, then there's nothing special about it.

Whoa! Since security of computers up on the hill is questionable, let's not charge into an ambush brothers and sisters. Don't know that I'd consider the TT a credible source. However, I'd sure like to see the original e-mail withelectonic fingerprints and then have a search on on appropriate servers.

Personally, I think this letter, if his office admits authorship, is treasonous. But to the Democrats, what's a little treason in the quest for power? What a sad commentary on politics. There used to be Democrats with whom I disagreed, but respected. That's gone now. Those Democrats are either Republicans now, or have willingly driven off the cliff of reason.

UPDATE: Kerry’s office says that this email was sent to a list, and that someone from the Tehran Times subscribed to that list; it was not sent specifically to the mullahs, as the Tehran Times implied.
