Troops help drug, people smugglers and will be shot, says leader of armed patrol in Douglas.
DOUGLAS - Rhetoric along the Mexican border here is rising, with a heavily armed group of residents declaring war on the Mexican military, and the mayor thinks chances are rising that someone will get hurt.

"Two in the chest and one in the head," warned Jack Foote, president of Ranch Rescue... The FBI/BATF are in need of another training pogrom.
Mount Carmel was almost eleven years ago.
This guy and his idiot cohorts fit the bill.

Let me understand this, the dispatch of armed intruders in the country illegally could cause an international incident?? Sounds right to me.

"The next time a Mexican soldier sets foot on the small chunk of border property owned by a Ranch Rescue member group, members plan to open fire, their leader said.
"Two in the chest and one in the head," warned Jack Foote, president of Ranch Rescue, a civilian group that patrols in search of illegal immigrants and drug smugglers. He said his group is protecting the rights of property owners. "
Idiot! He has threatened members of a foreign military. The next time one of them turns up dead at or near the border, guess who's going to get arrested. Idiot!

Idiot! He has threatened members of a foreign military. Armed foreign military on his "ranch." A foreign military doing an illegal incursion into the United States and threatening his life and property. Hmmmmm...he may have probable cause.

What does Arizona law say about the right to self defense?
In my state you can't shoot someone unless they are in your house.
This guy may be morally right but still end up in prison.

Nope. The courts aren't going to see it that way. He's announcing in advance that he's planning to shoot a member of a foreign military. If I remember right, the actual border is not all that clearly marked there. He's blowing hard, of course, and is unlikely to actually carry out his threat. If he does, he may not even survive to face trial.
I still maintain that he's an idiot.

"Mexican drug smugglers. Mexican army. Pretty much the same thing. We're in a border war," he said. Thanks to our politicians, there is no longer a thing called "a border". What is ours belongs to Mexico, and what belongs to Mexico's will remain theirs.

"That's the thing that has always worried me, that these people would cause an international incident and not only hinder relations with Mexico, but that they'd make this area become a hotbed for other organizations like that."If the governtment and law enforcement had been doing their job there would be no "these people" to be worried about.

It's only our response to their invasion that might cause an international incident or hinder relations.
What's wrong with this picture?

The border is marked by the Rio Grande for Texas, although you could argue ignorance of geography. If the bad guys shoot first he has every right to defend himself.
Yes, the authorities could arrest him for PC reasons, but if it's a trial by his peers down in Texas, I don't see them convicting him if he's in the right.
To: JackelopeBreeder
People are FINALLY beginning to see the reason for our Second Amendment.
Maybe the ignorant treasonous politicians will see this and either move back to china (dems)/russia(rhinos) or simple crawl back into their pig sty they came from.

It's certainly not a game. Our local law sheriff and the Border Patrol are doing the best they can with limited resources. The folks in DC could give a rat's hiney.
Ranch Rescue has concentrated their efforts around Douglas; Civil Homeland Defense and American Border Patrol usually work the Naco Corridor.
Our local sheriff has finally had a gut full and is now forming his own group of volunteers. There was a thread about it here on FR a couple of weeks ago, but it got pulled.

He has threatened nobody - he has simply stated that he will DEFEND the United States of America from a foreign invadiong army.
As I swore back in Jan 1969....
I do solemnly swear that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; That I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same .....

This week's discovery of 160 illegals jammed into one home in Phoenix didn't help either. When Ranch Rescue first made the news, Arizonans saw them as irrelevant hotheads. With every stash house and every carjacking, support for this movement is growing.

If he gets a jury trail by his peers, I doubt they would convict.

I affirmed the same oath, without the so help me God part, too, back in 1965. That does not make me a military of one now that I am discharged.

I suppose it would pass as a posse. Their first project is to provide security for the school bus stops in the rural areas.
I expect additional duties will follow, particularly in the Naco Corridor. As of 31 January, illegal alien traffic was up 114% over the same time last year. I also expect the Mexican government to scream like a stuck pig if Sheriff Dever starts handing out badges...

Hey there, doesn't national policy welcome anything ILLEGAL into this country while turning a blind eye? Surely you are not suggesting that the government actually respond to an illegal incursion of this country by a foreign military force? We wouldn't want to upset the fox, would we?

We have a military. We have law enforcement agencies. Theirs is the responsibility to defend our borders, not a bunch of trigger-happy "patriots." Those of us who live here in Cochise County wish that it would work that way. Unfortunately, it doesn't. Our sheriff has only 75 deputies to handle a county the size of the state of Connecticutt. The few hundred Border Patrol agents are trying to control very rough country 24 hours a day. The terrain is against them -- lots of man-high scrub and a maze of dry washes that makes their job similar to trench warfare.
They managed to catch about 180,000 here last year, but they privately estimate that 500,000 to 700,000 got past them. That's just for 80 miles of border.
The Border Patrol will not see any reinforcements in manpower or equipment. Dubya's FY 2005 budget proposal cuts their funding by $130 million.
As far as Jack Foote getting arrested -- he would be only one of several hundred suspects and the authorities know it.

Foreign incursion on American soil needs meeting with strong medicine. You, Mineral Mouse, are the idiot. If you love the Mexican invasion so much, put the invaders up on your soil or are you merely a tennant?
To: JackelopeBreeder
You mean this one.
Link to thread on Cochise County
Locked-up thread. I guess someone has a problem with you guys defending yourselfs in Cochise County. I feel that the citizens of your county have every right and should be able to use any means you feel fit to defend yourselfs against this invasion. If the Federal government had done its job, this problem would not exist.

You want our borders defended? Send a letter to Bush. He's in charge of the military.LOL! You did mean that to be funny, right? I believe at least a few Americans have already contacted the White House in regard to defending our borders. But no response has been issued by the President on the subject thus far.
To: MineralMan
The guy is an idiot. First, for telling people that he's going to shoot Mexican soldiers if they come on his property. Second, for believing that if he does so, he'll go unpunished. You want our borders defended? Send a letter to Bush. He's in charge of the military. Why do we have foreign military units regularly tresspassing on peoples property for the purpose of enforcing a group of drug smugglers? Bush isnt doing anything about it. That doesnt mean people dont have a right to defend themselves. This guy is trying to call attention to the problem before it gets further out of control. For that you call him stupid.
Meanwhile if you were in their shoes you would just run away and abandon your home right? Otherwise you have to be at the mercy of a foreign military that can come on your property at anytime they wish.
When can a citizen defend himself? When a group of armed thugs tresspasses on the property? When the thugs have surrounded you and are pointing their guns at your head? Do you have to wait till they pull the trigger first?
Give them license to do as they will aside from shooting at you and eventually they wont have to shoot at you. Your right to self-defense will become a moot point.

I believe in "Peace thru Streagth". If our federal government showed Mexico a little military streagth in defending our borders, we'd have peace in Cochise County.

Yes, no help from Washington; locals are on their own.
Only real political pressure would make Washington send troops. I would guess the governors of border states would do something first, like use the national guard.

Idiot! He has threatened members of a foreign military. The next time one of them turns up dead at or near the border, guess who's going to get arrested. Idiot! In an earlier period of American history, you could've said basically the same thing about another group of patriots. That idiot George Washington! What the hell did he think he was doing? Didn't he know that he could've been arrested for being in charge of a ragtag militia group that was killing British soldiers? That idiot!
