"Beleaguered global news service CNN International is rumoured to be considering major redundancies in a cost-cutting exercise."
Why? Are they merging with Al Jazero?
To: Timesink
This... is CNN.

BINGO. Hope they let the whole propaganda machine go.
I think I heard on Fox today that Brits are calling for dissolution of BBC.
Couldn't happen to a nicer bunch of Socialists.

"CNN is going".
I watched CNN once and was appalled by what I saw. No wonder they are called "Clinton News Network" and "Communist News Network". Good riddance!

I've been ragging on CNN to get them to aspire to do better than Fox. Looks like I was too late.
To: Timesink
Yeah, those dang redundancies are a pain.

Hopefully the layoffs will result in nothing more than a blank screen with a scroll at the bottom. CNN International is what Marx dreamed of, nothing more, nothing less.

We live just out of Chiang Mai. I don't know if I could take Bangkok for other than brief trips. However, the traffic has become marginally better with the expressways and overhead. I only reluctantly drive there as I get lost too easily.
That said, the people continue to be very receptive to individual Americans and somewhat positive to the USA in the wake of Bush's visit. The troubles in the South (About 2 per day killed by Islamists) is, I understand, not yet sorted itself out. We will be returning in about a month as I finish up some things I have to do here in Oregon.

I think I heard on Fox today that Brits are calling for dissolution of BBC. I certainly hope so. I do like to listen to BBC world news but I know how to filter the spin and Judy Swallow is sometimes impossible to swallow. I think BBC costs each brit $200 dollars a year, I don't think they are getting their moneys worth

I haven't heard from any of my friends on the inside of CNN Center of late; but nothing over there would surprise me, unfortunately.
I can't rejoice like others on this thread are doing - I knew too many good folks there amid the rabid animals when I worked there.
