My worry with Giuliani as VP is that he'll get ideas--and decide to run for President in 2008. I don't want him anywhere near the Oval Office.

Unfortunately, I would doubt. As pointed out by another reply, Cheney really looked bad against Lieberman. Kerry is going to have a hatchet man, and Bush needs one too. It ain't Cheney. I'd consider someone other than Guiliani, but unfortunately, there are not too many feisty Republicans to choose from. And as I said, Guiliani might make NY a race. If Bush could take NY, it's all over.

I think Cheney can take care of himself. Personally, I don't want to see the GOP leadership get involved with the hysterical mudslinging I always see from the dims. I don't think it serves them well with the American public and besides, there are plenty of low level politicians that can carry on with this. It's demeaning for the Pres. and VP and not necessary

You don't know Dick Cheney very well, do you? (paraphrasing Bugs Bunny). I actually have the advantage of some personal knowledge and contact with the man. That clearly colors my views.

Cheney, like Bush, is misunderestimated a lot. Particularly by his enemies in the press. The problem is that we tend to accept their premise about our own issues and people. Cheney's the man for the job.

BTW, Cheney EVISCERATED Lieberman in 2000; his zingers are legend. He is a nightmare for liberals. Cheney is smart, forceful, well-spoken, has all his ducks in a row and scares the c*ap out of the press.

That's why we keep getting feelers about "maybe it would be better for Cheney not to run again."

I thought Cheney beat the TAR out of Lieberman in 2000. Just seemed to master him in his subtle way. It was more low key than the Bush/Gore debates, but no less of a victory. I think he would spank Edwards, Hillary, or what ever 2-bit governor the Dims throw on the ticket to try to win a swing state. He's kind of been invisible, but conveys real experience and control, not the loose cannon NeoCon the libs and paleos try to make him out to be.

No offense to Rudy, a great prosecutor and mayor, but I want him nowhere near this ticket. He could cause trouble in the South.

I just can't see what you're talking about. Cheney doesn't scare anyone. He's smart, and that's why Bush has him on his ticket, but smart may not be enough in this election. If Bush doesn't want to be Kerry's punching bag, as Bush, Sr. was Clinton's punching bag, then he's going to have to have someone who's able to get dirty.
