I have to agree. The McAuliffe idiocy of bringing up Bush's service record was an utterly disastrous mistake from the Democratic viewpoint. That, coupled with that party's apparent wedding to the anti-war component that is attempting to resurrect the 70's stink of self-righteousness in a presidential campaign makes it an issue that will not go away and can only marginalize Kerry. My personal opinion is that the Dem strategists have been asleep at the wheel on this one.

Their desperation is so transparent. But I'm pleased that we are successfully seeking them out here and putting them where they belong......zotville.

The McAuliffe idiocy .........was an utterly disastrous mistake from the Democratic viewpoint.

Removing the middle of that sentence thusly is much more accurate.

Not in their world. In the Dem worldview, Vietnam is the filter through which all foreign policy matters are judged. And it's not WHAT you did during Vietnam, but what conclusions you drew afterwards. As a result, Bill Clinton the draft dodger and John Kerry the admitted war criminal get a pass - but George Bush the honorably discharged National Guard fighter pilot gets reamed over service minutae BECAUSE HE DREW THE WRONG CONCLUSION FROM HIS EXPERIENCES.

Their philosophy basically is, he may be a loser, but he's OUR loser.

Hugh Hewitt on Kerry's VVAW Testimony, via Instapundit [my title]

HUGH HEWITT played John Kerry's 1971 Senate testimony on Vietnam on his radio show yesterday and remarks:

I played John Kerry's 1971 testimony on the radio program, and the response was intense. The first two hours brought scores of calls and e-mails which denounced Kerry for his slander of the military that served in Vietnam and for his understanding of the war. Kerry has thus far successfully dodged a discussion of the specifics of his testimony, and it was very hard to find the audio --it took my producer Duane considerable digging to find the tape.

The impact of actually hearing Kerry slander the military--his accent is unbelievable, and his tone of arrogance and condescension repulsive-- is powerful, and I do not believe he can serve successfully as Commander-in-Chief given the reactions I heard from veterans and currently serving military.

Hewitt links to a text version, but unfortunately the audio isn't available. I hope that someone will put the audio online so that more people can listen and decide for themselves...

I have a feeling that Miss Terry will get all of the blame, if things don't go well this election. The Demons from Dogpatch never, NEVER, accept any blame.

The Dems have made a foolish choice, and the complaints of their pals in the print business won't keep it from becoming obviously so.
. . . but then, if Kerry tanks in the polls they will simply do a Lautenberg switchero, no problem.

And actually in the Electoral College as designed, they could legally do that after the election. The electors would have to go along with the gag, but . . .

"...but even more glaring is the missing data on lifetime ADA rating:
Kerry voted the right way, according to the ADA,
92 percent of the time throughout his long Senate career,
while Teddy got it right only 90 percent of the time!
And Kerry's lead in liberal votes was even larger over Kennedy until the votes of 2002 were added into the mix.
Thus the Los Angeles Times hides the central point of Kerry's political life – that he is to the left of Teddy Kennedy – in a story about how Kerry is to the right of Teddy Kennedy.
Good journalism that, eh?" - Hugh Hewitt

But then, aren't we constantly assured that McAuliffe, as the Clintons' man, wants to be sure that Bush doesn't lose this time around? Hmmm . . .

Three key differences between Benedict Arnold and John Kerry:

  1. Benedict Arnold fought in real battles.
  2. Benedict Arnold received genuine combat wounds.
  3. When Benedict Arnold turned traitor, he had the character to move to the country he sided with.

From www.adaction.org/lifetimesenmassachusetts.html:
Description of the Lifetime Voting Record:

ADA releases an annual voting record based on 20 issues we consider to be the most important each year.
Each Member of Congress receives 5 points for each vote on which he/she voted with us,
and does not receive 5 points if he/she voted against us or was absent for the vote.
The total possible score is 100%, a perfect Liberal Quotient.
The following are the year LQ scores and Lifetime for each Senator in this state.

State Senator Party Lifetime Average 2002 LQ 2001 LQ 2000 LQ 1999 LQ 1998 LQ 1997 1996 1995 1994 1993 1992 1991 1990 Pre 1990 average
