The point is that this is an article written by someone who makes his living defending illegals, and is no doubt actually far more tolerant of them than you are. Because his motive is to divide conservatives so that someone like Kerry can win the election, his facts are suspect.

The democrats are getting very clever with manipulating information and pushing our hot buttons. Dane is pointing out that the author of this may have other motives than calling our attention to the immigration problem.

So what, maybe he is just doing the job that other lawyers won't do. It says immigrants, not illegal immigrants, immigrants (legal included) need lawyers too. If they get busted for something, they can be kicked out of the country. What is wrong with specializing in a certain aspect of law? Would you rather have a lawyer that specialized in the situation you are in, thus knowing the best defense, or someone that does a little this and a little that? Doctors do it, why not lawyers or is it that just because they are lawyers? That being the case, sounds like you are stereotyping. But Daney would never do that!

Just because there are no numbers, does not mean that it is a liberal hit piece. If someone in the GOP said that something asked of people got 90% or any % of a certain responce without giving numbers, you would believe that as gospel. However, this being a lawyer, or one that specializes in immigration law, makes it a liberal hit piece. Ever think that maybe that it is true? How about you asking some border agents to see if the story is correct. I will bet that if you ask a few, they will say that the fact is that the story is correct.

The party line doesn't get it in this situation. Bush's plan is a disaster. While the dems are worse, Bush's 'plan' only makes a terrible mess more terrible.The American people don't want this garbage. If the pubs had any sense and wanted Bush to win they would close the border and start deporting illegals.

Like the proposal will do anything to help? How will it? What will happen if they don't come forward? What will happen if they don't leave after the 5 years (or whatever the time period is)? How many guest workers will be allowed into the country? If that number is reached, what will be done to keep any illegals from entering after that? What is stop illegals from coming in anyway?

The answer is to enforce the current laws (isn't that what we say when cries for new gun laws are raised), lean on agencies that don't turn over illegals that they encounter (threaten ending federal grants and loans to them), hire more border agents and increase patrols (maybe integrate DEA with the patrols), etc. That will help with national security.

The fact that the Bush-basher that posted this article intentionally left that out of the article is telling of the author's credibility to the Bush-basher!

That statement is immaterial. Their reason they say they came has nothing to do with a whether a surge occured over similar statistics for this time of year. And again, no surge numbers were obtained.

Bush is the one dividing conservatives by paying lipservice to the idea of defense but often abandoning his duty to defend our borders from those that disregard our immigration laws.

There are two ways Bush could stop his divisiveness:

1) Make amends for his liberal policies such as amnesty and a host of socialistic spending increases (including, but not limited to fetal tissue research funding and UNESCO)

2) Limit himself to one term in office so that a conservative can restore integrity to the executive branch.
