I've never heard of her.

I had not either, but I think we should have. Everyone knows about Emelia Earhart, I suppose she was immortalized because she never returned from her flight. But, I don't know that Emelia had anything on Mary Bruce when it came to acomplishments in the arena of speed and bravery. LOL.

Hey dixie!! Good to see you. I haven't been online much in the past couple years. I had the big move...30 years worth of accumulation!! I'd like to think I've quit whining about it......

As for projects, not much. I've lost my desire. Most people you try to help won't bother helping themselves. I finally started concentrating on my own health and well being, which I should have done a long time ago.

I took my granddaughters to the Vortex a couple years ago. The first time I was there, it was just the little shack, no tours, hardly anyone knew about it then. I won't tell you how many years ago that was!! That is the country I grew up in.

We get snow about once each year. Usually doesn't snow for more than one day at a time. If it doesn't warm enough to melt, and is cold enough to stay on the road 2-3 days, it's like trying to drive on a skating rink -- it's just ice.

Last Saturday it almost all melted before sundown. Or at least by noon on Sunday. I have a magnolia tree in my back yard that looked like giant cotton balls were glued to it. It was beautiful.

You know, there's money in aviation..., I know, I have put it there.

LOL!! That's funny. But I know it is also true. That is precisely why my husband has never gotten his pilots license. It's just darned expensive. I know he wishes he had though. All of his brothers are pilots, of either helicopters or fixed wing planes. One even took me up in a Citabria years ago and did aerobatics with me. I loved it! I should have been a pilot. I admire dutchess so much!

I think the next time they will be up there is around August.

A perfect time of year to visit Victoria. :-)

I think I'm going to bookmark it and read it before every flight lesson...just for an extra boost of courage.

That would do it for me. LOL

You know, seriously, I really do admire people who push themselves and confront what they are a bit afraid of.....because I am big chicken and I admit it. My number one worst fear is parachuting out of an airplane and I see absolutely no reason to EVER do that in my lifetime. (Even though I had to wear a parachute when my BIL took me up in the stunt plane, I was NOT leaving that plane under any circumstances. LOL!)

I'll be back in awhile. I need to get a few things done around here.

Have a great rest of the day, everyone.

Lord Jesus, Savior of the World and King of Peace, watch over our sons and daughters in the service of their country. Keep them close to You and give them courage to serve their country with honor and dignity. Be with them when they are in danger; strengthen them when they face hardships. Above all Lord, grant that when their service is finished they may return to us, sound in mind, body and soul. And Lord, for those who give the ultimate sacrifice with their lives for serving our country, please touch and minister grace and healing to their families. Amen

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Below are names of some of our FReepers' loved ones who are serving our country. If you have someone you would like to add, please address a post to Billie, Mama_Bear, Dansangel, Dutchess, or Aquamarine, and we will add them to this list. As we pray for them, we pray also for all our nation’s leaders, and military personnel, and their families and friends. May God hold them close to His heart.
Been gone two months seeing the country. What a nice post to see upon returning here to southern Oregon. A couple of facts that were left out; 95% of all residents live within 25 miles of I-5 and over 90% of the state is in federal hands......
If you ever get the chance, go see Steens Mountain out in the middle of the state.
90% of the state is in federal hands
Another thing, that IMHO, is "wrong" here. As a matter of fact, IMHO, all the things that are wrong with Oregon is governments fault.
