Cpl. Rita Levergood and her husband disagree whether four-legged members of their family should be able to join them out to dinner. The state, however, is clear: It's against the law.

A state senator's proposal going before a Department of Health committee this week would make it easier for animal lovers like Levergood to dine out with the pets they say are like family.

Of more immediate concern is avoiding resteraunts that feature kimchi on the menu.

Does anybody have that story about the couple that brought their pooch into a chinese restaurant, and it wound being fed to them by mistake? It really belongs here.

This would be an excellent development, in my opinion. Hopefully, good pet owners will act responsibly and keep our dogs well-behaved in such settings.

I would love to fill up the Dread Boston Salty with gas-producing food (so any food), take him to the neighborhood Starbucks where all the soccer moms hang out, and let him do his thing. He'd have the place methaned out in no time.

When I first started reading the title I thought it might be, "Proposed law would let Hawaiians marry their pets."

Cordially,

This is so unfair, what about pet cats, snakes, gerbils, hamsters, chickens, cows, horses. And all these darn restaurants should provide what is needed to facilitate these various pets. Remember in the old days when they actually used to make people tie up their horses OUTSIDE the saloon! How evil this was, to make the horse stay outside, in the cold rain, snow, whatever. People who call themselves pet owners and are so evil as to leave their pets home alone should have their pets removed. There are good homes for these animals where they will be taken with the owners, everywhere the owner goes. (sarcasm)

I thought, at first, that this was a story about Korean cuisine.

Youre already eating with pets (wild animals that is) if you eat at a restaurant in Hawaii that allows you to sit under the stars.

If you ever go to Honolulu its hard to miss all the wild felines that seem to roam everywhere. Not to mention the geckos.

At least thats been my experience.

Pets are already allowed in restaurants in France. Children are not. Reason? The pets are far better behaved and much less disruptive than children.

Know what? I agree.

Salty's so potent, Xena's Dad has nicknamed him the Methane Marauder. I could live without quite so much of that kind of enrichment . . . but the big puppy kisses and the snuggling make it more than worthwhile.

Hopefully the REPUBLICAN governor, Linda Lingle, will veto this nonsense. What a waste of time.

Ours probably could strip wallpaper after being fed "people food", which is one of the reasons she never gets any people food. "Methane Marauder", though, LOL, we'll have to remember that one!
