These folks have to file taxes, what are they going to do?

This could get amusing!

Ed is Newsom's wife's uncle.

That sounds kinky enough for me, right there...

The SF activists should be put in jail, but no one is touching them. They violated CA law and the libs are conveniently ignoring it...even worse than that...they're flaunting it. They belong in jail.

The RATS in Maricónia (CA) blew it big time, started a furor with marriage licenses that are not even legal.

Can you give me the Cliff Notes on how they thought this thing was going to play out?

This same corruption of society, as I understand it, gave rise to Muslim fundamentalism.

Where are the churches on this issue. The only public objector I hear is Jerry Falwell.

No laughter here, friend. I have consistently brought up the 'full faith & credit' issue here on FR to those who try to be intellectually pure and make it a 'states rights' issue, but end up making stupid mistakes because they have no background in law, or are unwilling or unable to see the big picture.

Quite simply, as I have said, when a couple gets married in one state, and if they go to another state, they remain married - no legal magic is at work that 'unmarries' them at the border, and 'marries' them again when they leave the jurisdiction.

It will be clamped down - the side fighting for same sex marriage is overplaying its hand. I saw a clip of the SF mayor on tv today, and he was so arrogant and obnoxious, this can't be playing very well outside of freakshows like SF, LA, New York, and other urban areas that have lost their way. A federal constitutional amendment may have to ultimately settle this - and that's entirely legit: the full faith and credit clause of the US Constitution makes this a federal matter.

So do these marriages mean that the "couple" can file "Married Filing Jointly" on their 1040?

Hmm...interesting question that I hadn't considered...of course I never expected this nonsense to get this far either.

It is only an issue for filing the 2004 returns which are not due until April 15, 2005.

Amazing. A mayor violating state law handing out fradulent documents demands that ALL states accept them.

What a load of CRAP!

There is going to be a backlash on election day. I hope. The state attorney general needs to be impeached for dereliction of duty. He is suppose to enforce state law. Not just the ones he likes. There are a lot of heads that should roll.

These people are just trying to get Bush re-elected. Sure seems like it. This is making average Americans very angry.

"During Scarborough Country interview (buchanan ick) and Willie Brown (ugh) said that after CA adopts Newsomes edict on Gay Marriage, CA will demand recognition of the gay marriages from all states under the full faith and credit clause."

It's already a felony in Canada to speak out against homosexuality.

Has Califonica once again set the pace for the rest of the country?
