JOHN KERRY: Several months ago, in Detroit, we had an investigation at which over 150 honorably discharged, and many very highly decorated, veterans testified to war crimes committed in Southeast Asia. These were not isolated incidents, but crimes committed on a day-to-day basis, with the full awareness of officers at all levels of command. It is impossible to describe to you exactly what did happen in Detroit--the emotions in the room, and the feelings of the men who were reliving their experiences in Vietnam. They relived the absolute horror of what this country, in a sense, made them do.

They told stories that, at times, they had personally raped, cut off ears, cut off heads, taped wires from portable telephones to human genitals and turned up the power, cut off limbs, blown up bodies, randomly shot at civilians, razed villages in fashion reminiscent of Ghengis Khan, shot cattle and dogs for fun, poisoned food stocks, and generally ravaged the countryside of South Vietnam, in addition to the normal ravage of war and the normal and very particular ravaging which is done by the applied bombing power of this country.

We call this investigation the Winter Soldier Investigation. The term "winter soldier" is a play on words of Thomas Paine's in 1776, when he spoke of the "sunshine patriots," and "summertime soldiers" who deserted at Valley Forge because the going was rough.

We who have come here to Washington have come here because we feel we have to be winter soldiers now. We could come back to this country, we could be quiet, we could hold our silence, we could not tell what went on in Vietnam, but we feel, because of what threatens this country, not the reds, but the crimes which we are committing that threaten it, that we have to speak out.

"millions of men who have been taught to deal and to trade in violence, and who are given the chance to die for the biggest nothing in history."

To the Pacifica crowd this is his red badge of courage - to the majority of the voters who will turn out in November - this sinks his ship.

What's ironic, if you follow the links to the whole program, is that Pacifica uses this testimony to bash Kerry for voting for the Iraq war in 2002, and they interview notorious peace "nut" Brian Willson who criticizes Kerry for now turning his back on the peace movement.

I don't think he was referring to the US as "the biggest nothing in history." I interpreted it as referring to the War in Vietnam and the cause they were fighting for. Remember, he was speaking before the Congress, so it's not likely that even a twerp like Kerry would insult his immediate audience by slurring their country.

And last night on Hardball when Charlie Black, republican, pointed to this testimony (after the usual nod to Kerry's Vietnam service) Matthews YELLED at him, "Don't you believe him?" and Black said "No!", and Matthews said "How do you know? You weren't there".

So Chrissy still believes all the stories the likes of Kerry told way back when.

Charlie Black could have answered "The witnesses lied. Fact. Read 'Stolen Valor'."

How did Charlie reply?

Absolutely. It is to chastise him for the vote to authorize war.
Perhaps they are friends again now that he's flip flopped and failed to fund what he voted for, with our soldiers in the field.

Al Gore's invention, strikes again.

John F'onda Kerry has left a long and bloody trail of anti American activities since he returned from Nam.

Goodness, you don't imagine he got a chance once Chris was off and running at the mouth. Charlie did fine. There was a dem guest, too. Even though he barely got another word in edgewise on that topic (they move on quickly on that show), I was pleased Black brought it up.

Very pleased.

"millions of men who have been taught to deal and to trade in violence, and who are given the chance to die for the biggest nothing in history."

The pronoun "nothing" he spoke of was the war in Vietnam.

I don't have the computer skills to save this audio. Someone needs to save it without the link on FR's server and other servers.

This stuff just disappears when the left wing finds out that we are circulating it.

Some needs to store the audio, not just the link on some private servers.

To the Pacifica crowd this is his red badge of courage - to the majority of the voters who will turn out in November - this sinks his ship.

The majority of voters will see this as hard to resolve history, and hence boring.

Unless we can prove the Winter Soldier Investigation as a dramatic, irrefutable fraud. Starting with Al Hubbard and moving on through the list.

Thanks for the links. My dial-up server keeps messing up, but I've been able to save the links & watch part of the video. I'm surprised it's available. I thought it was buried in the networks' vaults, never to be seen again. Thank you PFB.

I'm listening to the audio. There is wild clapping after the mention of his medals.

I want to see the military record of what he did and how he earned his medals. He should be proud to let us see the record.

Good for Charlie Black. Sounds like Matthews couldn't stand the heat.

To Charlie and others in sound bite pressure: "Al Hubbard and the others lied. Read 'Stolen Valor'."

John F'onda Kerry has left a long and bloody trail of anti American activities since he returned from Nam.

Indeed he has, and if effin Kerry is the nominee, that info will be spread, far and wide.

This audio and tv clip are just more reasons why all of us need to be monthly contributors to Free Republic or regular donors.

99.% of the reality we have read, heard and seen about John F'onda Kerry would have never been read, heard or seen with our left wing mediots controlling the news.

Just look at how they have contained and spiked all of this news about the real traitor, Kerry has been.
