Sunday 9:00PM EST on FNC, Breaking Point: 'The Terrorists Next Door'
Fox News Channel ^ | Feb. 20,2004 | Linda Vester

Edited on 04/22/2004 12:39:03 AM PDT by Jim Robinson. [history]

Since September 11, 2001 more than two million illegal aliens have been caught trying to sneak across our borders into the United States. Most of the people apprehended have been Mexican Nationals looking for work, but in 2002, about 8,000 of the illegals arrested were “special interest aliens”. What's that term mean? It means that they were from countries with known ties to terror, people from countries like: Libya (search), Pakistan (search), and Iran (search). There is an endless stream of foreigners, impossible to identify, flooding into the United States, and Americans living on the frontline are concerned. Are these people looking for a better way of life or a way to destroy ours?

Must see TV.

At least someone is paying attention.

I think they continue the discussion Monday on Linda Vester's day time audience format program "Dayside".

The guys in the pic look more to be on our side.

Hard working, hockey loving, beer drinking regular folk.

It's the socialists liberal Canadians I despise. Sort of like the show Conan Obrian did trashing the French Canadians.

I saw some of the lead teasers with Linda Vester. This sounds outstanding. We should email and ask for a repeat too! Maybe they can break it into segments and let Shep show the different parts so some of it gets out on the Fox local Stations/Channels.

Indeed, a MUST WATCH!

I'm watching. Recording on my hard drive. I wish they had NOT focused on the Ranch Rescue guys as they are barely even on the radar screen down here. Yet Fox had to spend time with them and make a "militia" connection. Yet, I know they could have done MUCH worse.

The did a good job with Larry and Toni Vance. Their comments were spot on.

Tancredo is being interviewed and quoted throughout the show so far.

Done with our absolutely OPEN border with Canada and how terrorists can cross at will. Going back to our absolutely OPEN border with Mexico to show how Park Rangers are being trained to take on a more military-like roll.

A vehicle barrier could have very well saved Kris Eggle's life. Asa Hutchinson was asked why there was no vehicle barrier on the border. He said, "There's a lot of issues involved..." and went on about environmental issues and such.

The article says "Most of the people apprehended have been Mexican Nationals looking for work, but in 2002, about 8,000 of the illegals arrested were “special interest aliens.” (so, maybe terrorists.) The article implies we have nothing to fear from these Mexicans, but I worry about this possibility: suppose you're a Mexican in this country illegally, and a terrorist makes you an offer you can't refuse - do what I say or I'll turn you in to the INS. The potential for that type of problem gets worse if the government cracks down on all illegals, but I'm not against cracking down on them, just get prepared for the side effects. The harsher the crackdown, the greater fear the other illegals have of being caught and the more they feel that they need money to buy really good forged documents and to otherwise cover their own tracks. The terrorists have lots of money to spread around, and they realy don't want to be caught - so I think that they'll pay other illegals that we usually ignore to do their dirty work. I heard that one trick that the Italian Mafia used to rise to power without being caught much was because there were so many Italian and Sicilian illegals that they could use as cats paws. Is that true? Is history repeating itself again with a-bombs instead of machine guns? Yes, I agree that our borders aren't safe, but there may be a lot of wrinkles on this prune we haven't thought much about yet. I hope that some Federal Agency is on top of this potential problem, and also I hope we have enough sense to demand that all illegals be deported before they can be coerced into killing us - by the millions.

Yes, I watched the entire program and Tancredo's position on the subject was sobering and effectively enlightening.

We're certainly at risk for future terrorist attacts, unless we act decisively to secure are borders.

Pretty good show, highlighted both border issues, how each is a problem, Asa Hutchinson is what he is, a politician first, he shows what is the real problem - pols like him afraid to offend anyone rather that do the work necessary to defend the border. President Bush I also include, a president's job is first to lead above all else.

I felt for the border families, and the family that lost their son as an Organ Pipe National Park Ranger in a firefight. At least they seemed to be arming themselves now.

Tom Tancredo did what he could to make the necessary points and did a good job of it. Not that the press or public will care until it's too late, either by another terrorist incident or when it's clear that the migrants are simply too large of a force to be dealt with.

The terrorist connections over each border was adequately dealt with, common sence shows the problem, should anyone be made aware of it. Our politicians are certainly aware - but seemingly uncaring.

Our politicians are certainly aware - but seemingly uncaring.

And as was suggested at least 3 times in the show, it's probably going to take another major terrorist attack on our soil to get them to care. .....and then do something about it.

He was very off-putting -- smirking condescendingly while defending the indefensible (non) actions of our gov't.

A note from Linda Vester from her webpage on the Fox News site:

Dear Friends,

I've been working with Fox's documentary unit on the risk of terrorists sneaking across our southern borders -- and the information we've found is downright disturbing.

I have to say, I was blown away by the things that I found out in the course of doing this special. The more I researched, the more I started getting anonymous tips from the intelligence community about the state of our borders.

One tip in particular gave me specific locations on our northern border where I (or Joe the Terrorist) could cross freely into the USA without a soul noticing. There's just no physical way you can man the entire border; but what about other forms of surveillance?

And no offense to Canada, but there's a real problem. Their spirit of welcoming the world's dispossessed is admirable, but you may find their asylum system is SHOCKING. I'll explain why when you watch "Breaking Point" this weekend: You will see specific instances where KNOWN TERRORISTS, wanted for the murders of innocent people, have easily stayed in Canada (some are there AT THIS VERY MOMENT).

As for Mexico, a well-placed source says they're doing better on the border; but, that's in dispute. Their government reportedly is pressuring the "coyotes" to stop sneaking "SIA's" (Special Interest Aliens) into the U.S. But I'm told the method they're using to pressure the coyotes is not necessarily stopping the smuggling of questionable people (I'm not talking about the average alien who just wants a job). Instead, I'm told it's just raising the PRICE that questionable people are paying the smugglers to cross over into the U.S.

Some of the things you learn in "Breaking Point" may make you mad, but it's information you should have.

Drop me an e-mail at dayside@foxnews.com

Thanks!

Linda

The way I understood what Asa said was that they were following the laws - based on the greenies and environmental laws in place. I want protection, but I understand that there are laws that must be addressed. I think these laws are ridiculous - why should an environmental impact study have to be done to provide the protection needed.

I want the protection, but laws can not be ignored. They need to be changed That takes time. It takes resolve - that needs to be boosted. Email your congressman.
