JOHN Kerry arrives in New York today. Our city is an old stomping ground of his, of course. He used to hang out at 156 Fifth Avenue - the headquarters of Vietnam Veterans Against the War.

Kerry was present at those offices in September 1970, when the group decided to write then-Mayor John V. Lindsay and demand that the city refuse to welcome another organization, one dedicated to representing other American servicemen.

Enjoy your stay in New York, John Kerry. This city is the worse for having hosted you and your smelly little protest 34 years ago.

Looks like Kerry has always hated the National Guard.

I guess the idea is that 4 months of service to his country gives Kerry a lifetime pass to slander servicemen and undercut the military.

Looks like Kerry has always hated the National Guard.

Ditto all his slimey friends on the Left, who harbor resentment against the Guard for its riot control duties in the 60's.

Kerry slandered ALL American fighting men as "war criminals, murderers, rapists"--

--when it was only his own war crimes which he witnessed.

Kerry confessed to murdering a mother and child.

John Kerry: war criminal.

Kerry self-cited his way to a three Band-Aid cop-out in four months--

--and picked up a self-cited Silver Star for assassinating a wounded combatant in violation of Geneva Accords--

Hence, the ONLY war criminal Kerry can attest to is

HIMSELF. . . .

Komrade Kerry won the coveted Giap Fifth Column ribbon

Author of the important Following Ho Chi Minh: The Memoirs of a North Vietnamese Colonel, Bui enlisted at age 18 in the Vietnamese People's Army. He worked as a journalist and editor for the Communist army newspaper in Hanoi during the Vietnam War. In this position, Bui worked in close proximity to Ho Chi Minh -- and the American POWs.

In Aid and Comfort: Jane Fonda in North Vietnam, page 80, the Holzers quote Bui Tin from "How North Vietnam Won the War", The Wall Street Journal, August 3, 1995:

Q: Was the American antiwar movement important to Hanoi's victory?

A: It was essential to our strategy.

Kerry won the war--for the Communists, and to the Communists he is a hero.

This looks like a great pick up. The amazing thing is that it wasn't a Freeper who discovered it.

"True, Bush's service can't compare to John Kerry's. Kerry saved lives, suffered injuries and won medals for his valor in Vietnam."

WHAT? Under what standard...that one?

re: your post on the pulled thread.

It was Bush who was defamed by that statement. His service does compare. As for Kerry's patriotism, well...just serving doesn't give him that distinction!

By Kerry's logic, Benedict Arnold would never have been accused of treason, could never have been questioned about his military service or judgements, and always would have been viewed as of higher character than the "chicken hawks" who remained working in the Continental Congress rather than taking up arms directly. Neither John Adams or James Madison would have been regarded as "qualified" to be president, much less to run, win and form American foreign policy.

By Kerry's logic: Tailgunner Joe McCarthy should never have been questioned about his "patriotism" or stands on "national defense" -- he was THERE... in the THICK of BATTLE... one of the "band of brothers". How DARE those senators question his integrity, positions and claims on national security matters...

Just a thought.

Kerry hates the National Guard, the reserves and the regular Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force and Coast Guard.

His entire political life was started with that hatred like most Rats in political office today in his age bracket.

Of course they hate a strong America and those of us who want a strong America.

I lived in a mixed area of Milwaukee in 1968, when we went under martial law during a series of marches and riots over accessible housing for minorities. I was definitely a leftie at the time. However, I didn't hate the Guard; I was frightened seeing young Guardsmen on the backs of trucks manning huge, swiveling guns. We were under curfew. We were instructed to leave our homes slowly, w/our hands visible. We were also frightened of the rioters and had a deal w/some black neighbors that one member of each family would spend some time at each other's home so if one or the other side got violent, we could stick the right color face out the door. We really feared the rioters and being caught in any crossfire....which never happened in our neighborhood.

It was sobering for a young American mother of a toddler to experience martial law. The memory remains and it is what I expect things would be like under Code Red. It is yet another reason why I am glad I live in the country and not in a major city right now.

In the time since, I can honestly say, that except for some privately written/published memoirs of those days, I never heard anyone on either side express hatred for the Guard's actions at that time. They were nervous and frightened themselves. Some were only 19 years old. In fact, the priest who led the marches (I am blocking his name)was the person most vilified following the ordeal.

I think we all identified w/the Guardsmen who were faced w/the possibility of having to fire on fellow citizens.

"Guilty as Lt. Calley might have been of the actual act of murder," Kerry said, "the verdict does not single out the real criminal. Those of us who have served in Vietnam know that the real guilty party is the United States of America."

Kerry and VVAW tried to rid My Lai like a rented mule. It was the greatest thing that ever happened for their side.
