With his Marxist social policies causing dissention in the ranks, if Bush were to put a pro-abort like Giuliani on the ticket he would have a full-scale rebellion on his hands.

Rice/Rudy,Rudy/Rice--either way they win.

Folks on this thread who even consider the idea that Bush might replace Cheney are out of their minds. This isn't the New York Yankees plugging holes in their lineup at the trade deadline; it's a friggin' election for President of the United States. You don't dump a VP candidate to strengthen your political appeal - it would [rightly] broadcast the fact that your campaign is in shambles.
Ultimately (barring health problems) replacing Cheney would do far more damage than you could ever hope to offset with any replacement.

Landslide in the making! Rudy would be awesome for us disgusting moderates. The choice is simple: big tent or no tent.

Win first and then go for ideals. Let's just call that theory by what it is: "The hell with principles, I just want my team to win."
A sure recipe for disaster. We're in a perpetual election cycle, and under such a system winning would always take precedence over ideals.

Basta! BASTA! I CANNOT hear this one more time.

This is the Dem's worst nightmare! It may be the Democrats worse nightmare but it would also mean the end of the Republican Party after it nominates a pro abortion, pro gay rights Rudy in 2008.
To: NittanyLion
He said losing Cheney and possibly defence secretary Donald Rumsfeld, could help protect Bush from criticism over Iraq. "They clearly were the hawks who helped Bush decide to go after Saddam Hussein," Neuharth said. "losing" either of these men would simply be a confirmation, to the Democrats, that their critcisms were absolutely justified.
If people are sick of hearing that drum being beaten now, just wait until they get rid of Cheney and Rumsfeld. "See--SEE?! We were right all along, it was WRONG to go into Iraq!"

We need to save Rudy for the NY Senate in 2006! He's the only one who can save us from Hitlary!Don't you think Hillary would rather not face Rudy in 2006?
Don't you think a lot of people would rather Hillary not have to face Rudy in 2006?

Guiliani's got a HildaBeast to hunt down and slay in two years...comparatively, the Veep position ain't worth a bucket of warm spit!! Plus, if Dubyuh names anybody but Cheney as Veep, it'll be akin to naming his successor, which I'd prefer to decide in the primary of '08!!

If this happened then I would even consider bolting the GOP in November.I bolted in November '03 over the pills and Amnesty. The only thing that stands a chance of Dubya getting my vote is if the polls are close here.
They article also mentions Frist, another liberal and chief socialized medicine proponent in the GOP.
Does anyone know of a single conservative under consideration for any position in the Bush admistration?

Guiliani's got a HildaBeast to hunt down and slay in two years... Can you name two Domestic Policy Issues that Hillary and Rudy do not agree upon?
Not Abortion.
Not Gun Control.
Not Gay Rights.
To: pawdoggie
"many on the right would be inclined to stay home" I hope not. It's true that conservatives are taken for granted from time to time just like blacks are by the rat party. But the truth is that neither constituency has anywhere to go. The chance of getting a newt gingrich/ronald regan type admistration anymore dwindles every year. We are lucky GW fought terrorism! It's a sick new gotcha politicla world out there. But what can you do?

Do you want 8 more years of bubbas wench?
To: pete anderson
I like Rudy the Man, but I'm far off from him on his politics. Still, he'd be a vast improvement over the HildaBeast as the Junior Senator from NooYawk.

Rudy should start with Senator, toss the Hildabeast out on her rear, then work his way up the chain.

Do you want 8 more years of bubbas wench? False choice. Running principled conservatives does not equate to electing "bubbas wench".
Try again...
To: NittanyLion
Everything you say and intimate is correct in a "perfect" world. There is just one problem, elections are won on the baisis of Dick Morris type politics and have been for some years. Right and wrong, principled,unprincipled--all that counts "personally" but when election time comes if we are the only ones playing by the rules we can loose. Ever heard of triangulation--if you think GW doesn't know all about it you are wrong. It's a very slick world we live in today, that's why most pricncipled conservatives simply won't run.
To: bobo1
I prefer Cheney. I do too but that's going to leave the Republicans without a candidate to go up against Hillary. She's the LAST person we want as our President. IMO. God save us from that traitor!!
