Has anyone else noticed academia's shift away from the B.C. / A.D. designation? I've seen it once or twice before and suspect it's intentional- the agenda being to eliminate all Christian references from our daily lives.

It's rare now to find a historian or archaeologist who refers to "BC" or "AD" times. The kids do not learn that nomenclature in school anymore, as far as I know.
It comes from the bigoted belief that using Christian-centric language excludes other traditions and is unscientific.

I've seen it once or twice before and suspect it's intentional- the agenda being to eliminate all Christian references from our daily lives. I like to define it as:
CE = Christian Era
BCE = Before the Christian Era
It's fun to exasperate the enemy.

No, it's done so that scholars and researchers can use a common frame of reference in research. Different religions (cultures) have different calenders. In the Muslim and Jewish calenders it's not 2004, they measure from different starting dates. So it makes a lot more sense to have a common neutral frame of reference that everyone can use regardless of their religion.

the agenda being to eliminate all Christian references from our daily lives. Could you please explain how replacing AD (Anno Domini) with CE (Christian Era) is part of the attempt to eliminate all Christian references from our daily lives?
