---Democrats at the hearing yesterday said Republicans are using the issue for political advantage. ---

Democrats are just beneath contempt, aren't they?

Legal Recognition of Same-Sex Couples

Democrats support basic equality for all American families. At the DNC, we practice what we preach by offering full benefits to the domestic partners of our employees. In 2002, as a Party, we approved a resolution urging that the protections of the Social Security system be extended to gay and lesbian American families.
[emphasis added]

The Democratic Party opposes the so-called "Federal Marriage Amendment," which was endorsed by Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist (R-TN). This proposed constitutional amendment would not only force states to discriminate against groups of their own citizens, but would also jeopardize hard-won domestic partner benefits offered in 10 states and more than 160 municipalities. President Bush has also recently indicated that he is considering putting his administration's support behind this proposed constitutional amendment.

Important discussions about the definition of family and marriage are taking place across America. Democrats believe in inclusion and equality. We believe every American and every family has the right to participate fully and equally in American society and to enjoy the benefits and freedoms thereof. The threat of constitutional amendments to dictate social polity and force states to discriminate against groups of their own citizens is unacceptable. Free debate and discussion have kept this country strong for more than 200 years. It is wrong to write discrimination against lesbian and gay Americans into the Constitution and to deny any American equality under the law.

1. It will just reinforce the laws already on the books.

2. It won't impact domestic partner laws.

Adding more to Social Security when people are warning about how much budget trouble it's going to cause as the "baby boomers" are retiring? - - DUH!

Yes, and this is the information that is not getting out to people because the homosexuals are using "love" and "feelings" to define the debate. You can't fight feeeeelings, you can however count dollars and realize that in order to "bruce " and "bruce" to get widows benefits they have to take grandma's social security check.
