First about nuclear enrgy. I agree with you, but you gotta change the envirowhacko thinking in the press. BTW, I beleive that Abraham has said that new nuclear power plants should be considered. Here is a quote from the Miami hearld article that you "excerpted" for a thread on FR.

Despite the current interest in LNG, Abraham predicted other fuels will strengthen the country's energy independence because they can be produced in the United States.

He touted hydrogen, clean coal and nuclear fuel produced by a new generation of meltdown-proof reactors. Another energy source is fusion, he said, although that probably won't be viable for at least 50 years. He did not mention renewable energy, such as wind and solar power.

And during that time, we've invested MULTI-BILLIONS in nuclear R&D that's ready for implementation NOW.
But Spence doesn't want to use it for ANOTHER 20 years???

That 5.6% is 110% snake oil. It's a number that is meaningless except for use as marketing logo. A number like the old secret ingredients in toothpastes "Now with XL7!". Well, the rate is "Now at 5.6%!" Same way, meaningless except to provoke screeches in the cheerleading mob.

As a measurement there's no stat in in, no reliability, no consistency, no there there. By "snake oil", I mean it is a perfectly arbtrary choice of a number. Been that way a while. Not really new. But its gotten worse.

The US Department of Labor household survery is better. And that shows 392,000 mysteries. A net loss, really. And the jobs that are had? What do the state income tax revenue streams show?
