All FReeper writers and columnists are encouraged to submit articles for potential publishing an "The Corner". We can't guarantee that all submissions will get posted, but will do our best to make sure the best get some exposure.
Please forward submissions to columnists@freeper.org!

What kind of topics are generally discussed in that forum?
To: Bob J
This may be a dumb question, but how do we know the freeper name of the columnist? I've looked for it a few times and can never seem to find it. Is there anyway that info can be included?

Here's an article I wrote this morning
Kerry vs. Kerry I, a hypothetical debate between Senator Kerry and Candidate Kerry on contrasting real positions Kerry has taken. Don't know if it is good enough.

You are the only published author I know, so here goes ping your way.

What kind of topics are generally discussed in that forum? It's not a forum, we have the FR Forum for that. It's just a feature where we post opinion columns.
Think politics...

It's up to the writer whether or not they want to disclose that. Some of our writers are not necessarily from the forum.

It's more of a satire/humour piece than an opinion column. JHuang2 writes humour columns but not in this format.

Actually it wasn't meant as a satire so much, as I took real positions that Kerry has taken without any exageration. Most of the words are directly quoted from Kerry's mouth, the others are paraphrased or factual events. Most of my stuff is sarcastic, but that was honestly stating Kerry's flip flops.

I italized the words/sentences that were not spelled correctly, were incomplete or possible didn't even exist - all for no charge or insult.
PROteinaceous INfectious agent (which really ought to make it "proin", no?). The prion theory suggests that the infective agent of CJD (and the other TSEs) is composed of a protein only and does not contain nucleic acid, which would be necessary if the agent was a conventional virius.p> Claimed by a large number of groups to be the infectious particle that transmits the disease from one cell to another and from one animal to another. It is made from the normal protein PrPc (the c stands for chromosomal) that is produced in small quantities in many cells and especially the lymphoid and nervous tissue cells.
On the other hand, there could be no suchofa thing, in which case we've wasted all this time and money and accomplished squat.

To: Focault's Pendulum
Satire is fine, think Ann Coulter or Mark Steyn. The issue with the example referenced above had more to do with the style in which it was written, it was like a transcript from a debate. The content was fine but the structure didn't lend itself to an opinion column.

Dude, don't be casting stones.
I think he can. There's no glass in his house. I just read a whole page of his postings in other threads. Sister Mary Yardstick did a job on this guy... not one grammo in several dozen notes. And he goes to places in the language where a lot of people goof. There isn't even a spelling mistake. There is one misspelled word on his profile page, and that turns out to be an exact quotation from a scientific paper.
