Hope it's not a repeat of the December '01 "truce" negotiated by the tribesmen in Tora-Bora.

Accepting this offer would be insanity. Would you want these well-armed but unreliable "men of honor" covering your flanks or acting as a blocking or driving force for your sweeps? I wouldn't because I'd be constantly concerned that they might have a sudden attack of Muslim solidarity with the terrorists and either turn their weapons on friendly troops and/or safely spirit him away by disguising him as one of their number. And we know from previous postings that this is entirely possible, since he has probably been hiding in this area since Nov-Dec 2001.

The original article notes that a number of the tribesmen have been killed or wounded by the Pakistani troops (special forces, IIRC from another article) operating in the tribal area. Two simple answers: 1) tell them where bin Laden is so they can capture or (most likely) kill him and 2) stay well away from the anti-terrorism forces as they search.

That's exactly what I was thinking. Look up on google the "treaty of Hudabiya" to get an idea of what these people are about and how far you can trust them.
