'Protection squad'
for Gibson's Jesus (Security detail hired for James Caviezel)
World Net Daily ^

James Caviezel, who plays Jesus in Mel Gibson's blockbuster "The Passion of the Christ," has reportedly been assigned a security detail to protect him.
"There are some crazy people out there and everything is being done to protect Mel and Jim from physical attack," a source close to executives of Newmarket Films told the London Express.
The paper said Caviezel, a devout Catholic, was being guarded by a "protection squad" amid fears of attacks by "religious fanatics."
According to the report, a mob of protesters has already screamed "anti-Semite" and hurled a bucket of lamb's blood at Gibson in a New York street. Charges of anti-Semitism dogged the filmmaker for months prior to the movie's Feb. 25 opening.
The Express reports Caviezel, 35, and his wife, Kerri, are protected whenever they leave home. Studio executives reportedly are concerned the film's principal figures could be targets for assassination.
Caviezel, who has 20 movies to his credit, told the London paper: "Sadly, any threats have to be taken seriously. It seems a terrible irony to me that this movie has spawned anger and violence. The idea that actors need minders because they portray a man whose mission was to spread the love of God is awful."
As of yesterday, "The Passion of the Christ" had taken in $213,888,740 in U.S. ticket sales and likely is on its way to becoming the highest grossing R-rated film in history.

This is amazing. The people who decry anti-semitism feel free to practice hate. I guess that proves they are liberals.

Well, here are the "hate crimes."
Nothing reported in the mainstream press about it, of course. Wouldn't want to get those knuckledragging violent abusive Christians in an uproar....

It seems certain hatreds are fashionable and even protected. And not hatreds at all, we know this because, after all, the Liberals tell us so and they think know we all are better off because they do. Barf.

guess the critics were almost right....the movie of the crucifiction of Jesus...has incited violence
all right...but not against Jews...
Guess it was a pre-emptive strike against potential anti semites by the ADL thanks to their amazing ability to read Chrisitan's minds?

According to the report, a mob of protesters has already screamed "anti-Semite" and hurled a bucket of lamb's blood at Gibson in a New York street. Well, Abe Foxman always said "The Passion of the Christ" would inspire hatred in unstable folks (it just didn't occur to him they might be the people who hated Mel's movie). I wonder why this blood-throwing incident didn't get more publicity. There must have been a hundred stories about that minister who posted the "Jews-Killed-Christ" sign.
I also suspect that Gibson and Icon (and maybe even Gibson's secluded Malibu Church) have already been the targets of numereous threats and perhaps vanalism. Usually though no mention of this sort of thing ever gets in the papers for fear of inspiring even more copy-cat attacks. I wonder if any pro-Passion websites have been hacked.

this is shameful, the jails are full of vicious and violent jews. when the crime rate goes up, you can be sure the jews are the perps.
if this did occur to cavaziel or mel it's absolutely shameful, but i live in NY and haven't heard about it. could it be an urban legend?
To: Alouette

Huh. I did hear something about irresponsible statements leading to violence, and calls for shame and censorship. But I'm pretty sure this wasn't the persecution the media were loudly predicting.
Paging Abe Foxman - the viscious hate monger you loudly condemn is staring back at you in the mirror when you shave.
To: presidio9
Because it happened to a Catholic. You think Hannity would have mentioned it on his show.

Seriously, I don't believe there is some gang of marauding guys in funny hats and hair stalking Gibson and Co. Other than Abe Foxman and the ADL who made a huge deal out of The Passion so they could generate more donations to ADL.
I haven't seen too many Orthodox Jews protesting this movie. Most of the critics are secular Jews, who much like secular Christians, hate the movie for the pious feelings it might arouse.

Danger from protestors? This actor was the one struck by lightning.
Anyway, it jibes with Mel's well-honed persecution complex.
He's a brilliant showman, he should be a Hollywood executive. There's an opening at Disney reportedly.

Your observations are rather true. The movie the Passions of the Christ hasn't appeared to of incited any anti-semetic sentiments but it sure has stirred a lot of anti-christian fervor. Rahther ironic I must say.

I live in New York City and you'd think I would have heard something about Mel Gibson being covered in blood by protesters. I don't know how reliable the London Express is as a source, or if the story was embellished at World Net Daily, but this just doesn't sound like something that really happened (or really happened *as described*).
To: N. Theknow
"Mutton for Punishment". OMG that was funny.
To: truthandlife
There's something a little bit too convenient about this. I truly hope this wasn't set up from the Gibson camp. I can't imagine this happening from the Jewish Community. Words, yes...attacking the actors? Come on.

It is ironic, but it shouldn't be, at least for Christians. Jesus said we would be hated because of our love for Him, and the early believers regularly faced persection and even death.
The same occurs today, from Christophobes in America, to ChiComs persecuting house church Christians in China, to Muslims enslaving and murdering thousands of Christians in Africa (and countless other examples). Liberals and other Christophobes probably enjoy the bloodletting--as long as it is Christian blood.
BTW, David Barrett, one of the most respected of researchers concerning worldwide Christianity has said that as many as 200,000 Christians a year are martyred for their faith. Somehow Reuters manages to miss those stories, and Abe Foxman doesn't lose a bit of sleep over it.
