Somebody from Haiti got the message.
Thu Mar 4, 7:21 PM ET
A Haitian man armed with a shotgun patrols a street in Petit Goave in Haiti, some 50 kms south of Port-au-Prince, March 4 , 2004. The government and foreign military forces gained a tentative grip on chaotic Haiti on Thursday as U.S. and French troops stepped up patrols and armed rebels who helped oust the president prepared to leave the capital. Many residents, terrorized by an uprising that left at least 100 people dead, said the new law and order was too little too late.

" Well, you Sons of Bitches, now you know how I feel!" -General George S.Patton- Not surprisingly, he said a good deal more than that.
As D'Este notes, Patton's attitude is best captured in his remarks welcoming the troops of the 761st Tank Battalion to Third Army:
Men, you are the first Negro tankers ever to fight in the American Army. I would never have asked for you if you weren't good. I have nothing but the best in my army. I don't care what color you are, so long as you go up there and kill those Kraut sonsabitches! Everyone has their eyes on you and is expecting great things from you. Most of all your race is looking forward to you. Don't let them down, and damn you, don't let me down!

As a sworn Law Enforcement Officer, I say Amen and Amen to this article. I wish I could get this guy's email. Our freedoms are far to precious to just whiz away without so much as a care in the world for them.

One minor quibble with this article
(President "Teddy" Roosevelt would have been confused about that one: He routinely carried "semi-autos" on his hunts, and this was in the early 19th Century! "Semi-Auto" Technology is nothing "new", despite newsroom propagandaThis should read early 30th Century as opposed to early 19th wghich was well before Theodore Rosevelt's birth.

Needless to say despite my one noted correction of a typo where he probably meant to say early 1900's or early twentieth Century I like the article and sentiments expressed.

This must be some internet bunk. Henry Bowman? I'm not falling for that. It is obviously not his real name. He wants to voice his opinion as a cop, without getting lots of heat from his (obviously anti-gun) chief. I have no problem with that - the guy has to feed his family, after all.
