Mark Steyn (click below for entire article):

Take a look at a satellite picture of the peninsula by night: South Korea ablaze in electric light, the North in darkness. In Far East Asia, North Korea’s the hole in the doughnut.

Quite a contrast illustrated there, N. Korea vs S. Korea, huh ?

Like Kerry, N. Korea is working in the dark.

The pic is so eerie, I had to study it to make certain I was seeing what I was suppose to see. The "hole in the doughnut" description is perfect.

Oh, yeah. Mark Steyn has a way with words. I like most of his articles I've seen.

Well, amazing was the word I was going to use but onyx beat me to it. It's really kind of sad, when you think of the people who live there!!

... It's really kind of sad, when you think of the people who live there!!

It really is. My sister-in-law told me a few years ago that she had gone to Korea and it really is sad. She told me about the starving kids there. It is inhumane what the N. Korean Communists have done there.

I read an article just a few minutes ago about a letter of criticism that Amnesty International sent regarding the death penalty given to John Allen Muhammad for the Beltway Sniper murders. I wonder if they have ever weighed in on atrocities that N. Korea has committed ? Or Saddam Hussein ? Or Al-Qaeda ? Or any other of the mass murderers in the world ? ...

Sentencing John Allen Muhammad to Death

Amnesty International is about as much good as the U.N., what have they ever done for people suffering like that!??

I'm surprised your sister in law was even able to get into North Korea! Remember a year or so ago when they opened the border and let relatives see each other for the first time in years?

As I recall, I think it was years ago when she worked for the 'Vice-Mayor' of Shenyang, in mainland China. She doesn't work for them anymore now that she has been in the U.S. for 8 years and has her permanent residency now.

Interesting about your sister in law. If I remember correctly, QUIX taught school over in that area. Quix misses Tiawan. My son traveled in that area this past year.

The two China's hate each other. When the Kumantang (sp?) left Mainland China and went to Formosa. It's now called Taiwan. Mainland China keeps rattling their swords at Taiwan and the U.S. takes sides with Taiwan. Rightfully so too, imho. The Mainland Communists have killed so many innocents over the last 55 years ...
