Hot Shot (“The Shield”, Season 3, premieres on FX tonight! 4-Star Review in the NY Post)

"The Shield" is the vilest, nastiest, dirtiest, bloodiest show on TV.

And I love it.

That doesn't mean you have to feel the same way.

Some readers who take this review as a recommendation that they watch "The Shield" should also heed this warning: This show is not for people who get upset easily. These people should sample "The Shield" at their own risk.

I agree completely. The Sopranos is definitely the second best drama on television. I don't even know what's third.

I have "24" (FOX) on my list of must see TV. I don't think the next episode is until March 30th because of March Madness though. It's on Tuesdays at 9 p.m. EDT on FOX.

Last week was one of the slower episodes so far, with a lot of setting up the story for the new season.

The last fifteen minutes were really good though, because you can see how everybody on the show is heading for a major eff-up! Shane’s buying the car. Vic’s using the marked bills in a sting. The Captain and Claudette are going to battle. Julien’s beating up the gay bashers. Dutch is just losing his mind (“Do you detect an attitude? That’s because I’m American and you’re Greek!”). The Jesus-looking Armenian weirdo is ordering feet. Tavon’s defying Mackey.

It’s all going to hit the fan!

I’ve seen previews of tonight’s episode, and it looks like a major screw up by Vic and the Strike Team. BTW, I think the new black guy on the strike team is a rat.

Yep.

The Shield is the best show on television, bar none. And once their season is over, Nip/Tuck drops into the same time slot for their second season.

And as far as I'm concerned, Nip/Tuck is in the same ballpark as The Shield. Not quite as good, but not far off either...

I've been watching "24" only after it comes out on DVD. (Once you start watching a show like that, its a pain in the ass to avoid news about the current season.)

I loved the first season, but I thought the second season went real off the rails with silliness. I mean, they kicked the president out of office because he didn't nuke three countries within three hours of the bomb attack? The Labor Secretary, the HUD Secretary, the EPA chief would take that vote? Plus, Keifer dragging along the terrorist's sister and basically deputizing her an hour or two after he met her was really dopey. She's the terrorist's sister!

I think they try so hard to make all that happen in 24 hours that it gets goofy. I'll still watch the third season when it becomes available, but I'm hoping it doesn't get any more implausible. It's exciting, though.

I'll have the VCR set tonight. And, this time, I'll have it set so it doesn't kick over to Seinfeld at 10:58 PM. Arghh!

Definitely the best television show in the last 20 years. Really love the characters because they are all human. Ya gotta sympathize with Vic and his problems at home...(marriage falling apart and a son who has a learing disability). The politically smooooth captain is entertaining. You can predict what he's going to do. Vic's sidekick (forget his name...big teeth...Goober?) is really funny. Like a lot of guys his age, he thinks with other parts of his anatomy.

The only character i found truely despicable was the nasty personnel consultant (feminazi) last season who thought her degree in criminal justice made her an authority on how to run a police department. Fools like her can get people killed in real life.

Yeah, by the time the show was over, I was a nervous wreck, seeing how everything and everybody looked like they were headed for heckzapoppin'.

Not so sure yet that the new black guy is a rat, but looks like Danny is coming back, and I'm sure she's got revenge on her mind...

Last time I got this nervous watching something was when I first saw Deliverance.

I like Nip/Tuck too; there's also a new show on USA "Touching Evil" on Friday @9pm est. Caught the pilot episode last week and it was pretty good.

I think the black guy is a straight cop, not a snitch. He keeps getting left out of conversations. Notice the mulltiple scenes in which he walks in the room and the others shut up. I think when the sh$t hits the fan he'll tell the truth, whatever he knows. I think it's a matter of trust.

The guy was a good cop, good, actor, and damn. Looks like they're going to have to burn the money.

I just watched the last two episodes last night (I was in Hong Kong last week).

Holy crap the chit has hit the fan. Sucks that Tavon is out of the picture. He was an excellent actor, plus he was kicking Shane's ass.

And I don't think they'll have to burn the money, they just have to steal that list of serial numbers from Acevado.

Speaking of Acevado, he had a really really really bad night last night. That was brutal.

And guess what's going to turn up in a week or two. The cellphone photograph. Hope the gun is visible in the picture.

I'v never seen anything like it on a TV show. The chickesn are clearly coming home to roost. Tavon is still alive, insn't he, so I guess the future is open.

We're on our way to europe for three weeks. So I have my TIVO charged up. Won't read your threads until I get caught up. C-YA in May.
