Just reported today on LAs blowtorch station.
We are forced to pay for this, while the Federal Government refuses to pay one dime.
The Federal Government is in charge of the protection and security of our borders, yet from California to North Carolina, we are being forced to pay for this continued invasion of millions, many that come here and rape, rob, and murder our citizens and we end up paying to jail thousands of them.
The station will be discussing this again, in a few minutes.

Go John and Ken! Don't forget the cost of schools for the kids of these illegals, providing them medical care, etc., etc., etc.! We need to turn up the heat on Washington and Sacramento.

How about our insurance rates, cost of law enforcement in addition to the cost of jailing the criminals that happen to get caught.

Then you can praise Arnold, because he is trying to get Federal money to cover those costs. Did they mention THIS on KABC?
"Schwarzenegger wrote to President Bush last month specifically urging him to include at least $565 million in his budget for a special program to pay those costs to California and other states.
``California has the largest population of incarcerated, undocumented immigrants of any state in the nation,'' Schwarzenegger wrote in a Jan. 9 letter, noting he believes the costs are a federal responsibility. ``Federal reimbursement of criminal alien incarceration costs . . . would greatly assist California in its economic recovery.''
As he did last year, the president proposed no money at all for the State Criminal Alien Assistance Program. Republicans and Democrats in Congress succeeded in adding $298 million for the program in the current 2004 budget. Now Schwarzenegger will have to focus his arm-twisting on the Republican-controlled Congress to do it again."

I say we bill Vicente Fox for these costs. Maybe after being charged he will do his part in obeying OUR immigration and work permit laws. His incentive? He'll get to keep more of the money we give Mexico each year!

When a governor asks Congress for more money all it does is spread the costs to every taxpayer in the USA versus really taking care of the problem. I still say that if we bill Vicente Fox and other countries causing this explosion of money out of our pockets and reduce the amount we send annually for whatever it is used for, it will change our 'neighbor's' mindset. Right now, they just let them cross our border and let us bare the expense.

INDIANA: ISP Stop Van Load Of Suspected Illegal Immigrants [And release them!]
The Associated Press ^ | September 15, 2003 | The Associated Press
BEDFORD, INDIANA. -- A traffic stop in Lawrence County led to the arrests of 28 illegal immigrants from Mexico Saturday, police said.
The arrests occurred after an Indiana State Police trooper pulled over a van at the intersection of U.S. 50 and Indiana 446, according to police reports. Police said the trooper discovered that the driver, 30-year-old Perfecco Gonzalez, was not licensed, then requested help from other officers when he found the back of the van filled with people.
Among the 28 were men, women and minors, said Agent Mark Summers of Indiana Immigration and Customs Enforcement. All but Gonzalez were taken into custody by state immigration officials and driven from the Lawrence County Jail to Indianapolis on Sunday.
Gonzalez remained in Lawrence County on a charge of driving without a license. He had previously been deported for being an illegal alien and was to be processed by immigration officials as soon as he was released from jail. Immigration officials had not yet interviewed Gonzalez at length, Summers said. It was unclear who else might have been involved in bringing the van through Indiana.
According to police reports, the van's passengers claimed they had traveled from Mexico to Colorado to pick potatoes and were then traveling to Kentucky to pick tomatoes. "Communications are very difficult -- they are either refusing to speak or are unable to," a state police dispatcher's log said.
The 28 arrests were believe to have been the most made at one time by Indiana immigration officials this year, Summers said.
After being driven to Indianapolis, the van's passengers were processed and issued legal documents giving each 30 days to leave the country before they are again in violation of law. They were released later Sunday. None had prior criminal convictions or had previously been in the country illegally, Summers said.

So, California rolls out the red carpet for illegals, offering everything from schools to health-care, and bla bla. So if some nutball in Sacramento wanted to pander to terrorist, or a few million con artists, would the Feds just sit on their asses and watch them cross the border.
Who's job is it to protect and secure our borders? California's?
And is it California's fault that places like North Carolina and other states are being inundated by illegal aliens?
I think not.

Like most politicians, the problem with Arnold is his ignoring the cause of the problem, while trying to the alleviate the consequences in his neighbourhood by passing the buck to other people. Federal money does not grow on trees, but originates from federal taxpayers like you and me. Arnold's approach just distributes the pain amongst many, making the pain less noticeable.
My main criticism of Arnold is his reluctance to make California unfriendly to illegal aliens. He is on record for considering a bill that is a variation of the repealed SB60, the bill granting drivers' licenses to illegal aliens.

Easy friend.
I am not disagreeing with you. The situation is very serious.
And yes I live in Indiana, and yes, we have the same problem here, but not as severe.
But I can assure you that the majority of voters here are not stampeding to the polls and saying "hit me again"
I have been to Cal many times, and lived in San Diego for a couple of years while I was in the military. I've also been offered many jobs there. My wife is from Sacramento.
Why do you think we live in Indiana?
HINT:(It ain't jealousy)
I really LIKE being able to spit in any direction and not hit an illegal alien. And we will do what we can do to keep it that way.
Seriously, I don't understand how you got the impression that I am all for this invasion. I grew up in El Paso, and I saw what happened there even before it became a big issue.
I'm on your side on this issue.

Tatoo them with an identifying mark, get them all together, take them to the border, and force them across, back to where they came from. Line the National Guard up and let them know if they cross over and any of them are already marked as being previous problems, they'll be in for "special treatment."

the National Guard National Guard? Aren't they in the barracks somewhere polishing their boots? Speaking of spending $700,000,000 million just to jail and house illegals aliens when they break *more* of our laws, why are we paying good money for the National Guard? Are they not suppose to guard our Nation? Could they not assist the Border Patrol?

Short of grabbing my rifle and binoculars and heading for the border, what CAN we do?Easy. Forget about giving illegals a "downside" to slipping across the border, at least for now. The key is to get rid of the "upside". No schools, no health-care, no welfare, no SSI..... no freebies for illegals. It is awfully hypocritical for California to set itself up as a parasite magnet and then complain when the parasites show up.
To: Joe Hadenuf
Come on Lancey, you know as well as I this not isolated to Cal.Of course it isn't, but California is at the cutting edge of the problem, ie., facing bankruptcy.
You know what they say - - "As goes California.....".
So let's see California deal with the problem.
Again, the first step is to take away the incentives for illegals to show up in the first place.

So, California rolls out the red carpet for illegals, It's our Fed, Gov't rolling out the 'red carpet'.......as you can see, TX *used* to have a Gov. requesting federal monies for 'illegal upkeep' since "the feds weren't doing their jobs at the borders"........
Bush: End grants that offset migrant costs
Arizona's attorney general warns of a 'grave impact' if the criminal justice cash is eliminated
SERGIO BUSTOS, Citizen Washington Bureau SUSAN CARROLL, Citizen Staff Writer
tucsoncitizen.com Feb. 20, 2002
(snip) WASHINGTON - When President Bush was governor of Texas, he railed against Congress and the Clinton administration for not giving states enough money to pay the cost of jailing illegal immigrants convicted of crimes. " If the federal government cannot do its job of enforcing the borders, then it owes the states monies to pay for its failure, " Bush said in 1995 after Texas lost a lawsuit claiming the federal government owed it $5 billion for costs of dealing with the immigrants.
As president, Bush is singing a far different tune.
Bush wants to do away with the State Criminal Alien Assistance Program that distributed $535 million last year to help hundreds of state and local governments offset costs of keeping criminal immigrants behind bars.

That's twice in this thread that someone has implied that all the rest of us either hate or envy California.
I don't really think that's the case.
The rest of us just can't figure out why the citizens of that state keep voting for more and more of the same kind of programs that keep bringing the illegals in!
People who care about this problem should be marching on Sacramento and sending a clear message that politicians could easily get their walking papers, if not worse.
Don't expect Federal action until the local situation gets hot. It shouldn't be that way, but that's the way I see it.
Another question: Why isn't the esteemed mayor of SF in jail?

Please name ANY incentives the feds have removed re: the illegals.
I saw where there are some 400+ laws before states (& cities) this year re: *only* illegals.
Accepting 'foreign ID's, Drivers Licenses, immigration enforcement, Day labor centers, in state tuitions, etc, etc.
By Washington DC remaining silent on these issues, they are in fact dividing the states.
