Hillary's Secret War by Richard Poe
Foreword by Jim Robinson |
This book is about a secret war on political adversaries waged by the most powerful people in the world. It's a war I have characterized as the most sensational and least understood of the Clinton administration scandals.
I know something about this war, because I was one of the many prime targets.
Some might suggest that disqualifies me from publishing this work. Some might argue that it taints the credibility of the book. Some might accuse me of promoting the book out of some kind of personal vendetta.

It is in the interest of full disclosure that I reveal here that this title was not originally a WND Books project. In fact, I would have preferred that another company publish it. The book was originally commissioned by Random House -- more specifically by an imprint of Random House called Prima Forum, now reincarnated as Crown Forum.
When the manuscript was completed, this major book publisher, for whatever reason, declined to publish it. In the media world, we say the project was "spiked."
At that point, the author brought his predicament to my attention. And we at WND Books agreed that the manuscript was worthy of publication.
This type of story illustrates why I helped found WND Books two years ago. Though many books are published every year in America, there are many worthy projects that still never see the light of day because of "political correctness," because of fears of political reprisals, because they are simply "too hot to handle."
Had it not been for the creation of WND Books and my own experiences with the Clinton regime, which made me intimately familiar with the painful truths exposed in Hillary's Secret War, this title may well have suffered the same fate.
Since WND Books was founded, the rest of the publishing industry has been infused with a little more courage and derring-do than it previously had. We demonstrated there is a market for controversial books. We demonstrated there is a market for newsworthy exposés of topics little covered by others in the media. We demonstrated that the secrets of the high and mighty can be revealed without the world coming to an end.
In short, we demonstrated that there was still room for a truly independent, courageous, muckraking book-publishing entity. Since then, there have been more than a few efforts to imitate what we do at WND Books. That's healthy for the book-publishing world, and it is healthy for our society.
Welcome to Hillary's Secret War. It's not just a recent history lesson. The truth is this war continues. This book is the story of the arrogant display of power in high places. It's not just an indictment of a woman now sitting in the U.S. Senate. It's an exposé of an authoritarian mindset that longs to regain power and will stop at nothing to achieve its objectives.

Earlier Poe, a favorite of mine:
"Who is Juanita Broaddrick? I've never heard of her!" cried Betty Friedan, the founder of modern feminism. Friedan's outburst came at last Fridayís conference, entitled "The Legacy and Future of Hillary Rodham Clinton." Held at the American Enterprise Institute in Washington. D.C., the event offered a chilling microcosm of an angry, divided America. For nearly an hour, a five-woman panel had been debating whether Hillary qualified as a "feminist heroine." I thought Broaddrick's claim of having been raped by Hillary's husband had some bearing on this point, so I broached the subject during the question-and-answer period. Friedan's dyspeptic denial followed. Was Friedan telling the truth? Maybe. And maybe all those millions of Germans who professed ignorance of the death camps were telling the truth too. The problem is, having admitted her ignorance, Friedan showed no interest in exploring the matter further. And that was the problem with the Germans too. Totalitarian impulses flourished at the conference. Taking a page from Soviet psychiatry, some Clintonites suggested that Hillary hating might be a mental illness. . . Richard Poe
