Franken: Lib Network will Take Bush Out
Newsmax ^ | 3-11-04 | Carl Limbacher

Posted on 03/11/2004 8:02:03 AM PST by truthandlife

Republican-hating humorist Al Franken promised yesterday that he'll be bashing President Bush relentlessly when the liberal radio network he's headlining gets underway at the end of this month.

"We're going to put it to Bush," Franken told reporters on Wednesday. "Bush is going down in November."

After his radio network - bankrolled by Democratic Party fat cats - supposedly drives Bush from power, the frothing-at-the-mouth funnyman said he plans to "put it to the right-wing media."

In a dig at his nemesis Bill O'Reilly, Franken said he was calling his show "The O'Franken Factor" and promised, "We're going to be baiting him as much as we can."

The Democrat Party's official radio network will also feature Iraq war critic-comedienne Janeane Garofalo, who explained last year that she never protested any of President Clinton's military actions because "it wasn't hip."

Billing itself as "Air America," the network will begin airing the Democratic party line on March 31, hitting the airwaves on New York's WLIB, KBLA in Los Angeles and WNTD in Chicago.

But so far the effort doesn't exactly have radio conservatives quaking in their boots.

"They're hoping - they're praying - that they can take us out," number two national talker Sean Hannity told his audience yesterday, in quotes picked up by the New York Post's John Mainelli. "And [the liberal media] is going to do everything they can to help them."

But Hannity predicted that audiences would soon tire of radio broadcasts that sound too much like bought-and-paid-for party propaganda. "How could I be as intellectually honest as I am on this program -- criticizing Republicans when they're wrong -- if the Republicans funded my show?" he posited.

"Already it's not truth in advertising," GOP consultant Kellyanne Conway told Mainelli, adding, "I guess the name 'hot air radio' is already taken."

I do believe the Libs will keep this bankrolled until November, even though few will be listening. After that it will be toast, regardless of who wins.

Conservative talk radio succeeds, in part, because it offers a welcome contrast to the virtual Liberal stranglehood on the vast majority of the rest of the media.

Liberal Radio will be funded by George Soros. It won't be financially viable (i.e., won't turn a profit), but that's not its purpose.

It's sole purpose is to get around the CFR restrictions and get more anti-Bush, pro-Kerry propaganda on the air.

It will fold after the November election.

IMHO,

Franken needs to share his drugs with the rest of us.

They may get a couple million liberals to listen to their stupid network, but so what? Are these people going to extra vote the same freaking way they were going to anyways?

This boy has some serious delusions of grandeur.

My take on this is that it will fail for one simple reason:

Rush and Hannity (and other conservative hosts) have a lot of liberal listeners who tune in just to get themselves in a hackle or maybe they view it as spying or whatever.

I don't see many conservatives pouring over to Franken instead of Rush and the kool-aid crowd will soon tire of their own "pundits".

Plus, have you seen the line-up?

Franken
Randi Rhodes
Chuck D
Garafalo

A veritible who's who of barf-bags. I give a month before their incessant whining turns-off even the faithful.

With this stated goal -- would any and all air time be considered an in-kind contribution to the Kerry campaign by the FEC?

I looked up dork in the Merriam-Webster online dictionary and here's what I found. OK, so I added the picture but the rest is as I found it, plus I had to do a little censoring.

One entry found for dork.

Main Entry: dork
Pronunciation: 'dork
Function: noun
Etymology: perhaps alteration of di*k
slang : NERD; also : JERK 4

Liberals have exhibitted NO sense of humor in forty years, they are so caught up in saving us from ourselves. Detached cynicism and metropolitan condescension control the liberal funny bone.

Humor fuels talk radio, and the Left has no humor.

End of story.

The Republicans have Dennis Miller and a few others, however most well-known comedians are part of the Liberal entertainment establishment (or they're to afraid to offend it.)

What is a "radio network"? Is he talking about a three hour syndicated program, or ownership of a number of broadcast stations that bash Bush 24/7?

We don't need them in Houston, we already have a Radio Pacifica station.

Notice how Franken says NOTHING about actual issues, opting rather to just call Republicans names. Rush Limbaugh actually TALKS about stuff like abortion, gay marraige, tax cuts etc. It just shows that even they know that most of their issues are huge losers.

Actually, folks...

This could be a blessing for us, in a way. Frankin believes that the majority of the population thinks like he and his ilk. He's going to attract listeners of all political tastes. Rush, Hannity and the others will talk about him (Although I think Rush will do a better job of quoting his idiocy) during their shows, drawing more attention.

And America will be driven away from liberalistic insanity. Listeners will run screaming from it like the plague.

I can't wait for Rush to do a parody of it, though. (Remember, "The Tom Daschle Hour?")
