LONDON, March 7 (UPI) -- The United Nation's former chief weapons inspector in Iraq suggested Sunday the United States and Britain have exaggerated the threat of terrorism.

Hans Blix was responding to Prime Minister Tony Blair's passionate speech last week in defense of the Iraqi conflict, the London Telegraph reported.

"I think we still over-estimate the danger of terror," he said.

I doubt Blix has the least twinge of shame or guilt after his asinine comments were overtaken by the events in Spain only four days after he uttered this nonsense.

Wonder when his name will appear on the UN lists of the food for oil scandal. To date: Annan's son, the sons of a UN weapons Inspector are implicated.

Bush and Blair are right on the War on Terrorism. The UN is dead wrong and wrong the dead with their complicity in fomenting worldwide oppression and terrorism.

Dear Hans:

As you should know but don't seem to, timing is everything. I hope the events in Spain will allow you to absorb this lesson and, in the future, keep your big mouth shut when you don't know what you're talking about.

Blix is the same kind of fool who said in the 1930's that the threat from Hitler was exaggerated. Little-Neville Chamberlain Liberals like him have learned nothing from the mistakes of the past. They want us to be damned to repeat them.

That's alright. After the events in Spain, Blix can always turn the one guy that would surely understand: Albert "I'm-Going-To-Preach-Global-Warming-On-The-Coldest-Day-In-NYC's-History" Gore. And don't forget the Dean endorsement to boot.

Yahknow... when this Blix fellow first appeared on the scene I watched a couple of his speeches and I was actually fairly well impressed with him. He seemed to have a clarity of thought about the threat that Saddam posed in the world... and he seemed far more hawkish then.

Something happened... later. I don't know what it was, but somewhere more than a year ago he really started batting for the other team. Can't 'splain that.

DR. HANS BLIX
Executive Chairman,
UN Monitoring, Verification and Inspection Commission (UNMOVIC)

Dr. Hans Blix was born in 1928 in Uppsala, Sweden. He studied at the University of Uppsala; at Columbia University, where he was also a research graduate; and at Cambridge University, where he received his Ph.D.

In 1959, he became Doctor of Laws at the Stockholm University, and in 1960, was appointed Associate Professor in International Law.

He has an Honorary Doctorate from Moscow State University (1987) and is a recipient of the Henry de Wolf Smyth Award (Washington, DC, 1988).

From 1963 to 1976, Dr. Blix was Head of Department at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs and served as Legal Adviser on International Law. In 1976, he became Under-Secretary of State at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs, in charge of international development cooperation. He was appointed Minister for Foreign Affairs in October 1978.

From 1961 until 1981, he was a member of Sweden’s delegation to the United Nations General Assembly; and from 1962 to 1978, a member of the Swedish delegation to the Conference on Disarmament in Geneva.

He served as Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency from 1981 to 1997.

He has written several books on subjects associated with international and constitutional law and was a leader of the Liberal Campaign Committee in favour of retention of the Swedish nuclear energy programme in the referendum in 1980.

Dr. Blix was appointed to his present position by the UN Secretary-General in January 2000 and took up his duties on 1 March 2000.

He has retired since, having failed to monitor, verify or inspect anything. He set consistently low standards, which he failed to achieve. He still appears in public from time to time, mainly to swap feet.
