[history]
March 12, 2004 -- JERUSALEM - Even if it turns out that Basque separatists are responsible for the blood on the tracks in Madrid, European security officials are very concerned about the possibility - one might say inevitability - of a devastating al Qaeda strike in the heart of Europe.

France is really worried about Muslim terrorist threats They better hurry up and start practicing those surrender drills.
To: AmericaUnited
Where is Bohemond, Tancered, and Charles Martel when you need them?
France's new national Antham;
"I SURRENDER, DEAR"
To: kattracks
"French concern was strong enough that they struck an agreement with Mofaz to tighten the intelligence cooperation and coordination between Israel and France to track al Qaeda cells."
Israel had better be prepared to open a second battle-line.
One against the Terrorist, and one against the French!!!

I agree. I can hear it now..."If the US had not invaded Iraq and angered these militants further, this would not be happening."
We should be hearing these rumblings long about today in some euro papers and on CNN, maybe NPR by Sylvia Pujoli....Monday at the outside. Somebody is going to fling it and hope it sticks.

I heard no liberal in any office of power, and that one who lusts after the highest seat of power say one word about this terrorist attack in Spain.

'it wont be long till this attack in madrid is blamed on bush and the US'
Of course, we have angered them with our aggressions in Afganistan and Iraq

And so, now Europe wakes to the nightmare that we, the United States, have endured for the past few years.
Welcome to the fight.
Maybe now, with their assistance, we can eliminate this cancer that infects the world.
To: Adder; rrrod
I respectfully disagree with both of you.
One of the most common complaints you hear from opponents of the Iraq war is that there is no solid link between Iraq and al-Qaeda. Anyone who makes the claim that the U.S. war in Iraq is to blame for an al-Qaeda terrorist attack in Spain will be conceding that there is a link between these two after all.

Anyone who makes the claim that the U.S. war in Iraq is to blame for an al-Qaeda terrorist attack in Spain will be conceding that there is a link between these two after all. Liberals are not consistent. They can make both arguments simultaneously. There are many examples of this. Seriously. Most voters and listeners don't detect the inconsistencies. As long as the sound-bite is anti-conservative, it serves the purpose.

Who knows? The French could say that this is bombing has Halliburton's fingerprints all over it.
OTOH, this could be the event that causes the euroweenies to awaken from their stupor and join our CinC in our WOT. In which case, John F'in Kerry's critique against our CinC goes bye-bye.
To: kattracks
Gee, I wonder if European leaders still want Kerry to win.
To: kattracks
Europe is worried?
They came for the Israelis and I did nothing.
They came for the Americans and I did nothing.
They came for the Spanish and I did nothing.
And then they came for me.

They need a Richard the Lionheart (who was as much French or Frank as he was English and ruled more of France than his cousin Phillip Augustus, the titular King of France). The Muslim fanatics cherish the memory of Saladan, one of their greatest commanders. King Richard was the man (and no, he wasn't gay) who defeated him on the Third Crusade. Saladan had the unfortunate displeasure of being on the receiving end of a charge of the Frankish heavy cavalry.

"AL QAEDA FEAR RUNS THROUGH EUROPE"It should. It's about time these people faced reality. It's much, much later than most of them seem to think!
Europeans had better get serious, support President Bush, and solidify the Western Alliance!

I hope you are right and that my cynicism is misplaced this time.
But I have heard blame laid on Bush for stirring up Al Queda and having them infiltrate Iraq to attack our troops. I believe that was the source of the famous "Bring it on!" line used in response to that "fear" raised in a press conference or something.
Also, knowing that the opponents of Bush and of the US will stop at nothing no matter how despicable and disgusting, they will not be prevented by any sense that their view is idiocy.
Again, I would like to be wrong...we'll see.

Oooo. "tighten intelligence cooperation and coordination between Israel and France.." I fear this is a bad move on the part of Israel. Why should they share intelligence with a political entity who wishes Israel(read Jooos) gone?
France and for that matter, most of the rest of Europe, will stab Israel in the back at the first opportune moment.
Just like liberals will never be our friends, Europe will never be Israel's friend no matter how accommodating Israel tries to be.
The Israeli gov. might think working with France in this war against terrorism is in its best interest. It isn't. And that has been proven over & over again.
I only hope and pray America won't "go wobbly" and abandon the state of Israel. That would NOT be in our best interest.

Their biggest worry about this is that they don't know which way to face while surrendering.
To: kattracks
"very concerned about the possibility ....of a devastating al Qaeda strike in the heart of Europe",Um, didn't that just happen? I suppose France fancies itself the heart of Europe. Maybe they're right in a sad way. But the Spanish, Italians, Poles, etc. seem to have much more real heart.

They have to deny it since their dreamboat, kerry, insists that the threat of terrorism is way over exagerated.

Oh, it will go further than that. The French Conspiracy Machine (aka, 'the Pentagon was never hit on 9/11') will quickly evolve a 'this was a CIA plot invented by Bush, Cheney, and Rumsfeld to save their "floundering" campaign.' They will quickly be assisted by the 'no blood for oil' deviants in this country.

A while back, when Iran had that terrible earthquake that killed scores of thousands, Israel offered to send dog teams that would search through the rubble for trapped victims. The Iranians refused this offer. They would have let their own citizens die rather than accept good will from Israel. Such is the depth of their hatred. My source for this is Glenn Beck. According to Beck, these search teams are among the world's elite.
My point is that, while you are correct that Israel should watch their backs, they play in the same league as another country that, despite numerous backstabbings, always seems to be where tragedy strikes - the United States.

I have to agree. Irael might as well send the information to Al Queda directly if they intend to share it with France. As to Europe developing a back bone, it would be nice, but I have doubts. When I consider the difficulty the French had getting the government workers to return from vacation to assist when a heat wave was killing 10,000 people in an area the size of Texas, I wonder how they would react to another war inside their borders. I hate the idea of the Muslims pulling down the crosses at Normandy and using them for sidewalk stones, as they do the headstones from all other religions.

Yes indeed.
LYING BUNCH OF CROOKS!
Europeans are more dependent on mass transportation (like trains) that we are. This would be very alarming to the populous there.
As Rush mentioned yesterday, the Lefists may try to gin things up to get them OUT of the coalition in Iraq and try and steer any public sentiment AWAY from solidarity.
To: AmericaUnited
Too late for Anne Coulter's entirely sensible approach: Don't let people from countries where a large percentage of the population wants to slaughter you into the country. Or why is there a huge mosque in East Orange, NJ? Answer: Politicians thought they would be reliable Democratic voters.

Liberals are discussing this atrocity in terms of the end of the EU. But they are insisting it was the ETA and doubt it was Alqaida behind the atrocity.

But they are insisting it was the ETA and doubt it was Alqaida behind the atrocity. The fact that the Spanish government initially blamed ETA doesn't help much. As far as I'm concerned, I wouldn't believe in the findings of any government investigation anyway -- too many people with agendas at stake.

"Why should the anti- American French fear Al Qaeda"
Because it isn't enough to be anti-American. In fact, that doesn't really make any difference to the Islamists.
As has been stated on this forum much more eloquently than I: THIS IS A WORLDWIDE CULTURE WAR. World WarIII if you will. The Islamists don't care (beyond manipulating it to their advantage) what the French think of us---to them France is a "Christian" nation that must also be subjugated under sharia law.
